A lot of people are bringing up Tropical park.
My question is why would Dade county allow UM to build a stadium in a county park?
And if they did how much would they charge for the land?

Where you gonna build a stadium, and who's gonna pay for it?

Blah blah blah.

I live in Dallas, and a local high school here just finished building a brand new 30,000 seat stadium at over $60 million.

Another local high school in Dallas is building one just like it to compete. And you're telling me the University of Miami can't keep up with some Texas high school?

No when it comes to building "over 60 million dollar" stadium UM can't keep up with a Texas high school.

One thing I think we are all overlooking, and something I just learned, is that we are in a long term lease with Sun Life.
I don't know what the penalty would be for breaking that lease is, but I'm thinking it would be highly pejorative.

You would think they would have an indoor practice facility with all the rain that comes with miami. Lights should have been added to green tree. No excuses

I know, it's amazing that we won 5 National Championships without that indoor practice facility. I mean it just starting raining over the last few years.

Sadly, as a gables resident I know they would never allow that. Drop that into Tropical and now we are talking. As far as a multi-use facility.....please don't incorporate soccer! Makes the field too **** wide and the stands start too far away. Obviously if that's the only choice....oh well, but that's the worst aspect of Sun Life.

Yes, soccer sucks. It's a foreign sport. I have no idea how it managed to sneak in and get a foothold, kind of like creeping Communism. When I was kid, we might play a few weeks of soccer at school or the park and then it was on to touch football. It's boring and girly.

lol...if they were to build a new stadium in that tropical park location, you know itll be shared w an MLS team

BUILD IT THEY WILL COME

Thats what the marlins said. They dont come .

they only come if u win. sls had no problems filling up that place for wrestlemania, fc barca, real madrid-chelsea, FSU-UM in 2010, soon to be this sept 7th. if u start winning games people will come. the place isnt empty bc theyre boycotting sls, its empty bc weve been mediocre for the past decade. when u start winning, the games become an event and people will show up in masses to sun life every saturday (outside of the crap home opponents bc in 01 we couldnt fill the OB for the games against troy st what makes u think thatll change now)

We need a ***ing stadium. We are beating around the Bush with this bull****.

this. no indoor facility is a selling point if you make it one. We practice in whatever nature throws at us. We're the hurricanes DAMMIT!
We NEED a stadium

It's much easier to get an IPF than a stadium obviously. At least one would think.

Nuh uhh, we're the HURRICANES, NEENERRR NEENERRR. We can easily buyout of a 25-year multi-million dollar stadium agreement and drop 60+million on a stadium that sits only 30,000 AND drop 15mill on a practice bubble. Don't u know how much money we got!!! If all our Procanes drop a cool million each, we might get a stadium that sits 40,000!!!

I swear some of ya'll just have no grasp on reality.

Funding? The school has a **** load of money, start the plans right now and built it as soon as possible. Start getting better recruits, the team gets better and brings in thousands more fans. Time to stop being so **** cheap and catch up to the rest of the top programs. Will we fill the stadium? No, but thousands more will come to see a top program. Football pays for all of the sports at the college, time for the top brass to wake up and put up!

(Pre) Plans for indoor facility locate the building adjacent to the BUC. FYI.

In your estimation, how long would it be before actual work on an IPF would begin?

It's a matter of funding/donations and if the big boss is cool with it - which I'm sure she is - Or Mr. James wouldn't have said anything. It probably wouldnt be ready, if we started now, for a couple of years. But, it is something we have talked about doing.

1: land in coral gables is some of the most expensive piece of real estate in the country. so stop bringing some nonsense about FAU/Baylor or some high school in ****hole, Texas.

2: Coral Gaybles polid!cksuckers hate Miami. school had to wrestle to get a **** crosswalk built over US1. stadium? ain't happening.

3: nobody gonna pay for our stadium until we prove that we can pay for it (fill it with people's asses every game)

best chance is to have the team have another half decade of dominance and use that momentum

If you think UM doesn't build a stadium because it can't afford a 60 million dollar tab, you don't understand why we don't have a stadium at all.

Some people on this thread want a stadium built in or around a city that, up until recently, had a 50 year ban on pick-up trucks. If the people who give the largest sums of money to this University's football program are being directly told it's a pipe dream, I think it's fair to conclude this isn't "only" a fundraising issue.
