Best PROSPECT in Dade history

I usually measure a player by how good they are in the league.
I agree but I was just answering the question posed by the OP "I’m not talking about results of how they did in college and the pros but more who are the highest rated Dade high school prospects ever?" also by the time I replied a pretty good list had already been provided so I added Forston.

Went to the Ridge with Lamont, the Davis boys and Sedrick (before he was bought out by Miami High) - but, i think Danyell Ferguson belongs on this list also.
When Ferguson chose us over Notre Dame on signing day it was huge. No TV ceremony, just read about it in the Herald the morning after, think Bob Rubin was covering recruiting back then.

I can tell most posters here are in there 20s and 30s. Where the old head names?
Most sought after Dade Players of the 70s:
George "Buster" Rhymes, Northwestern, Oklahoma
Elvis Peacock, Central, Oklahoma
Freddie Miles, Miami Springs, Florida and Illinois
Reggie Kinlaw, Miami Springs, Oklahoma
Lester Williams, Carol City, Miami
Dennis McKinnon, South Miami, FSU
Neal Colzie, Coral Gables, Ohio State
Keith Ferguson, Edison, Ohio State
Warren Bryant, Edison, Kentucky
Mike Reilly, Columbus, Oklahoma

Willie Williams. I want to say, on some list, he was the number 1 recruit in the nation his senior year, and he looked like the #1 recruit in the nation. He was trolling folks before that chit became mainstream lol. Patient 0

I think Patrick Johnson, Cambpell, Surtain were all higher. Weren't Sam Young and Bosa also higher? Sterling Palmer
I should clarify that I am talking not just about a high rating (all the guys I mentioned were 5*), but also the hype with it. All the guys you mentioned were very highly rated, but none had the kind of hype of a Willie Williams. It was a ******* circus around his recruitment.

For my money, Marvin Jones (MNW) was the best HS prospect I've ever seen. You talk about someone playing before their time, Marvin was that guy. And he played with bad intentions. I recall watching him for the first time in the Soul Bowl vs Jackson and he was a terror. On one play, I vividly remember him picking up the Jackson QB and slamming him on his head.

Kenny Phillips (CC) is another guy who comes to mind for me as one of the all time HS prospects. 5-star kid, ranked #1 DB nationally in his class.

Willie Williams, Lamont Green, and Willis McGahee are other guys who also come to mind.

These 5 dudes played the part. Looked the part. Were nationally ranked at or near the top of their HS recruiting classes. Regretfully, Lamont Green and Willie Williams didn't live up to the hype, but the other guys did and went on to become All-Americans at the collegiate level and stars in the NFL.

**** I didnt know Oklahoma really recruited in Miami like that. No wonder why they was so dominant in the 70s and 80s. Mixing dudes from Texas and Florida is a deadly combination.

Yep. But think about it. They were down here for the Orange Bowl **** near every year. Made it real easy to put on a good show for the recruits. Also, our program was garbage at the time. High schools today have better facilities than we had in the 70s. They were shooting fish in a barrel.

No on Chad, Matt, Duke, Marvin, Kenny, Andre, Najeh, D...well, you get the point. All were solid prospects in high school, but no, note relevant to this convo.

Both Nebraska and Oklahoma come to the OB with the Big 8 every other year, the coaches will stay behind for days and recruit in January (plus get some vacation with the family). Those two teams were up there with Alabama, Penn St, USC, all the top kids wanted to go there.

Jammi German might be the perfect pick. Never seen someone who was the perfect mix of physical attributes and media/fan hype. I thought he was going to be a HOF before he ever stepped on campus based on what I read and the brief highlights I saw.
