I'm perfectly aware it's average especially considering the position. Didn't say anything else. I said it was fast enough considering it wasn't that we were getting beat deep. Deep routes obviously speed is more of a factor. You were saying you want more speed based on preference rather than anything results oriented. Also what I said was we didn't have anyone slower than a 4.5

Good coverage and taking the right angles beats straight-line speed nearly every time.

And don't get me wrong, I love straight-line speed too. Is there any possibility we get back to the "good old days", when some of the football team ran track in the off-season? Those days were a lot of fun.

Definitely should. Far as difference in str8 line speed and taking the right angles etc just ask Chris Johnson. We all know hes fast. What only the dedicated fanbase of his won't admit is his speed didn't mean **** if he had no vision.

I would argue that we’ve all seen Beck’s ceiling in 2023. He had talent all around him and a pretty good O line. Nobody ever saw Ward’s ceiling. He was running for his life every other play and had maybe 2 decent guys to throw to his whole career before he came here. With that being said, if Beck puts up his 2023 numbers we’ll be just fine. And that’s exactly what he’s being brought here to do. Nobody can replace Cam Ward.

I agree for the most part, but X was elite, but the rest of the guys were just good. We didn’t have a true number one that could take the top off a defense, that’s the one thing we didn’t have.

Yeah, and it's ridiculous to bemoan "lack of straight-line speed" when we seemed to need it most for a CB to chase down a WR before he could score a touchdown.

We could have had the EXACT SAME speed in 2024, and if we just took good angles and finished tackles, we would have gone undefeated.
