Auston Robertson is a 2016 4* DE/DT unsigned recruit that is committed to Mich St but is looking at his options currently due to MSU backing off due his current legal troubles. Robertson is set to go to court on Weds for a battery charge. Robertson says he models his game after NFL star / former Mizzou dlinemen Aldon Smith (Coach Kool connection right there). Miami has quietly started reaching out to Robertson and should he clear up his legal issue on Weds, look for the full court press to come from the Canes considering our need for dlinemen.

Michigan State commit Robertson faces battery charge, doesn't sign

He was arrested Jan. 13 on a battery charge stemming from an Oct. 22 incident at his school. He is accused of improperly touching a female classmate, according to Allen Superior Court 4 records.

Robertson was released Jan. 18 on $750 bond and has a status hearing at the court Feb. 11. He previously faced misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief, damaging or defacing property, and resisting arrest, but those charges were dropped in Allen Superior Court 5 on Sept. 10.

If he can get his legal troubles worked out then I would expect a last minute barrage of wild west recruiting to take place.

Roberston has only being playing Defense for 2 years prior to that most saw him as 4* Tight End but he tried playing defense a camp and his recruitment exploded from there. He is still very raw and could do with a redshirt year to work on his technique and add weight to his 6'5" 260lbs frame which will allow him to play all along the dline making him even more versatile.

Also redshirting Robertson will allow him time to mature he missed 3 games as senior due to suspension, which I am sure also played a part in MSU backing off his offer. Sometimes the best thing for kids like this is a fresh start in totally new place.

I am a law and order type guy, but with Kool and Brother Richt in charge, I would have to believe he will be closely mentored and monitored.

Is he a savage? Sign up

I am going to say the kid registers maybe a 1 on the sunshine meter. I think his future is playing inside as a 3 technique DT. Fort Wayne, Ind is not a happy place think blue collar factories and food processing plants type town with 5 feet of snow.

I love having a disciplined team and a coaching staff that keeps things buttoned-up and I think that a guy like this, with a staff like ours makes sense. A kid like this when we had Dennis Erickson would probably end up behind bars before his Sophomore season was completed.

This kid is no goon by far, I actually met him before while traveling up north prior to nationals, he's MSU to lose they are just waiting on clearance, I would def stay on him though, anything can happen in recruiting

All the monitoring in the world won't stop a kid from getting in trouble if they haven't really changed.

While paranos is a weirdo Baez is following the kid and he's following Baez. Just happened recently too.

I grew up in da projects and got in lots of trouble as a kid and young man. I met a coach who mentored me and went to college. I was one of a very few kids I grew up with who didn't go to prison and a coach turned me around. Richt can do the same for this young man.
