August 9th Canes Camp Report

Love how the highlights are diverse. Defense making plays, offense making plays, it's not one-sided. Defense looks like they're coming around.

I can't imagine how Crawford and Howard don't start. They've been making plays while Gunter has been getting owned every practice.

I can imagine if Gunter is starting, it's because the coaches like what they're seeing out of the entire practices, and not the 10 or so plays that we see.

You would think a coach like yourself would know that.

Yeah well ***** that. If I got a kid who ends up on the offensive highlights every day, and another kid (Crawford or Howard) who ends up on the defensive highlights every day, I'm gonna make some changes.

Now take your ********************

Like you said there highlights meaning best plays of the day. Doesn't mean Gunter is ****ting the bed this whole off-season.

Does Howard make the offensive highlights every day? (no)

Only Gunter has been the victim of our "best plays of the day" every time.

Funny thing is, when Highsmith makes the highlights every day people consider him a liability. "There's Highsmith getting toasted again. I don't ever wanna see him in a black jersey. Blah blah blah."

It's the typical double-standard that reigns supreme on this site. The fan favorites get a different pass. Almost nobody is completely objective with their opinions of our players.

I guess now we know why you're coaching in HS and not for Miami.

Yeah, and I guess we know why my defenses always rank within the top-10 in the county, and you sit on your couch.

Like I said, we'll talk in a couple months and see where Gunter is at.

What i got from video of TODAY...

-Beau Sandland **** well can catch...he wills ee the field this yr...i expect 2-3 tds out of him oer the course of season..and thats with him being 3rd string.
-Kelvin Cain has been impressing every **** day....dude is multi dimensional..he's about 240-245...lines up at DE some and will be a goalline MIKE Backer..he can also play outside...glad kid didnt give up...he will see the field alot this yr
-Crawford is..what we saw on film...that kid is always in the wr hip pocket.
-Figs is a heat seaking missile when hes coming off the edge,,good luck.

Defnse looks solid...BUT dont look too much into it..as they go against our o every **** day and by this time they have our plays down pack.Believe me i know i played offense in college...and it happened every year..the d looks ahead their trash talking..making plays during camp..first game of season giving up all kinds of sh*t. What i do like is the physicality though.

Yall better get on this Jelani Hamilton bus im driving..that kid is looking REAL GOOD in every practice.

I wonder if our defense will face a better offensive line, receivers, tight ends, running back or group of receivers all year then the ones they practice against.

I'm thinking no.

Sandland making plays. The DL stuffing the middle. Secondary making plays. LBs making plays.

The D looks way better, highlights or not. The way this board ***** on the DLand praises the OL... The DL has no business making those plays.

Did I see Morris look to one side of the field, turn to the other and fire a laser, rewind...

Yes, yes I did. Progress.

But did you also see the 3 int's he has thrown the last couple of days???

They have been TERRIBLE decisions!

Of course I did. But you have to keep it in context. You are getting a small window into practice, EVERY qb in the country is throwing pics over the course of a week in practice, it happens. Even frequently sometimes.

I dont put anything into it because in real games last year Stephen was pretty good with the ball, very few of his pics were what the **** was he thinking type throws and actually had a couple that bounced off of his receivers hands and into the defender.

I like what I see because everything we said he needed to work on he seems to be doing, if he does it in practice daily (footwork, looking off, touch on throws, etc) it becomes habit and will manifest in games. I am very bullish on stephen even before the media onslaught and think he will do some great things this year. He was a project and should have redshirted going into his RS JR year. Even though he was pushed up earlier he has excelled to get to where he is, and with what we have experienced the last few years I will enjoy his season.

Also just so you know, when your defense plays your offense, they begin to cheat and know certain plays and sets. Guys tend to get good jumps on certain plays they recognize too. Everyone knows it, maybe the OC throws a wrinkle in there but really what can you do?

I understand that when you you playing your own defense you are going to throw picks because they do have an idea what's coming but... His int's were bad! One was a late throw to somebody he should never throw too (Hagens), returned for a TD! Another was a Jacory throw off his back foot lofted in the flats, returned for a TD! The one on the goal line was starred down and if it doesn't hit Jimmy G in the face mask, Thurston A intercepts it. Also possibly returned for a TD!

I know a couple of his picks were dropped by his WR's, but I remember him throwing a couple of passes right to the defense that they dropped! Including a TD to Rashawn S.

I am going to roll with AL on the starter issue. If Al wants him I want him. I have seen enough from our head man to just STFU and follow his lead. He's got those players doing it so why not me!

Thought Jelani was gonna be a tweener who didn't have the burst to play outside, or the upper body strength to play inside.

He's improved BOTH immensely and will provide some quality snaps to us.

Still trying to figure out why Philip didn't say, "What will you give me if I do?"

/Guess it's the Nupe in me

Dude's way too reactionary and emotional to rise up the ranks. He's making firm judgments based off a few highlight plays. LULZ.

Instead of being a fake crusader against message board unfairness, pay attention to the games. The reason the fans like Gunter is because he was one of our best CBs last year during his first season. The reason the fans are finished with Highsmith is because he's been terrible forever. Get it? It's not based on a few highlight plays like your determinations are.

Ya boy has lost his mind

spit out my water with that caption

The defense owned the offense today....

- Shayon Green showed why coaches dont want him out of the starting line-up.

- Denzel Perryman is just an all around freak of nature.... 6'0" 240lbs and runs like a pit bull coming at you.

- Jimmy Gaines being in the right spot to make a play... thats just what he does best.

- Thurston Armbrister looks real impressive.... you can really notice how big all of these guys have gotten compared to last year. (and last year we said the same thing)

- Alex Figueroa is a Beast.... Mo Hagens is a tank at 250lbs and Figs knocked him on his ***. good ****!

- Our RB group is underrated.... Eduardo looks legit.

- The D-line is going to be a strength for Miami this year... BOOM!
