Auburn Just Fired their HC

Auburn might be the worst coaching job there is

Auburn legit have an inferiority complex to Alabama. It’s really, really sad, actually. I was reading one of their forums, & they were talking about their next apparel deal since they lost $ w/ UA; one poster said, we better not go w/ Nike b/c Bama has Nike & I don’t want anything affiliated w/ them. Bro, looking at all the responses & how much Bama was in their head was low key sad af.

These dudes hit lightning in a bottle in 2010, & have been looking for the magic ever since. Hemorrhaging $$ on coach after coach. What’s even funnier, on their wiki page on HC history, they have Hugh Freeze already listed for 2022. LOL

I had a conversation with an Auburn booster a month before they hired Guz. They were willing to throw 20m/yr at Saban. I asked him why they didn't just grab Guz and spend the other 15M on the best staff money could buy. "because buying Saban would hurt Bama while hiring Guz doesn't get Bama down and us up." Yet... they hired Guz and didn't spend the money for a great staff.

Why would Lane go to Auburn? He's already in the SEC West, and doesn't have to deal with the higher expectations at Auburn. And I don't think Auburn has a significant money advantage over Ole Miss. He might convince Ole Miss to give him a raise, but I don't see the appeal of going from Ole Miss to Auburn.
Yeah I’d use it as leverage for more money or a bigger staff

Gonna drop this in this thread too..

Just throwing it out there for Auburn.. Miami defensive coordinator Kevin Steele. He was tied to the job for a minute before they went with Harsin. And despite his age he'll have a lot of boosters in his corner.

The people at Auburn and Sanders have all lost their **** minds if they think the best spot for him to move into the power 5 is at Auburn.

Sanders and GT need to seriously consider each other though

Hugh Freeze is the only call they should make.

I don't think Deion coaches D1 and may call it a day after his son graduates. He has some serious health issues.

Wilky Denaud me please

Would definitely take him, but we need a speed guy on the outside too. Denaud and Wayne have similar styles. Again, I’d take em because we need all the quality depth up front we can get but we need to stack some pass rushing types after Kelly/Moss.

I've heard this too. Hope its just rumors.
Seems like a stupid move for Steele. Since coaches don't last there at all. But maybe not? Maybe its a good move if he can get a ridiculous buyout lol. Then he could just retire in peace as their 6th ex head coach still on payroll lol.

He should definitely take that job. They could have him for 4 years $16 million. Fire him after 2 and just like you said, he can retire with a Bobbly Bonilla like pension

Does steel really want to take on an sec head coaching gig at his age?
Being in the same state as Saban and being second fiddle and having to recruit at a high level level is a different animal.
Aurburn fans are desperate. That booster base is likely going after a younger guy.
