Where we stand with Surtain?

Are some of you people talking yourselves into thinking we have more than just a puncher’s chance with Surtain?

And exactly why shouldn't we? What makes LSU such a superior and more desirable destination? Miami is the home team. Miami is clearly on the rise having won 10 games with a chance at 11. We play an aggressive defense that is fun to watch and creates turnovers. Miami plays in a beautiful stadium that has been renovated to create one of the most intensely electrifying game day experiences in the nation. Miami offers a 1st class education in one of the most picturesque and beautiful campuses in the country. I'll close by saying that if Surtain doesn't sign early with LSU or whoever that we have much more than a punchers chance to land the kid. This and the fact that he has an OV scheduled for Jan 26 with 3 close friends and high school teammates one of which is already committed another considered a lock and the third possibly being a silent. Yeah I would say we have a decent shot.

Yeah there is nothing wrong with claiming Richt has a screwed up culture in year 2 of his regime.

Yeah that was excessive, staff misjudged the jobe situation for sure but hit their targets everywhere else and I’m more than fine with that. No reason to expect anything differently down the stretch

Should have landed and land tyson and asante. Just saying ..they could have made sure of it and they didnt. Sucks but. We still will win and have the best class

Nobody’s a bigger homer than me. I know all that stuff.

But I’ve just read too much about some bad blood there from several different sources. Nothing that I would bet a plug nickel on, but for all those positive attributes you just stated, we’ve never even gotten a serious whiff from him or his family.

It wasn't so long ago that UM was considered a toxic dumpster fire in the minds of these kids and their families and with good reason. When you sit and think about it we are just 2 years removed from being the butt of jokes. Al Golden and crew were an absolute abomination, had no idea what they were doing and everyone knew it.

In 2 short years we have gone from being a disaster to being on the cusp of dominance. The reality is however that these recruiting relationships are forged years in advance and programs like Alabama, LSU, Clemson etc.... were laying the foundation in Surtains recruitment while Fat Al was crapping in his khakis every Saturday. All that being said I think maybe the Surtains have realized that UM is a vastly different program now and more that worthy of having it's tires kicked. There's no way I can sit here and say that we sign Surtain but I do believe there is legitimate interest from his camp and that they will take a good honest look. The commitment level of Silvera, the very high interest of Cambell and Chatfield and the fact that all four will OV together January 26th doesn't exactly hurt our chances.
