Article: Hurlie Brown To Be New RB Coach

Now the question is, are all the "inner city" coaches gonna b**** and cry about Lockette not getting the job?

There is no question this is a recruiting hire. I fully expect this staff to go full ****** the next two recruiting cycles, especially if we win 10+ games this year. I like the hire if the other aforementioned pieces fall into place to replace HB.
 
This is a good move if Lockette is given the Football Ops position. In fact, this was the only move.

Hurlie Brown was putting in work as director of ops so he could one day be a position coach. Mission accomplished.

Now lockette (or whoever we hire in Hurlie's place) will have the same opportunity.

You don't want dead-end positions on your staff.

Hurley's had a two year interview....doing his football ops job.

I'm sure Golden made an informed choice.

Now I would not be surprised to see someone like Lockette take the job Hurley just vacated.

This is what makes sense to me...
 
Sometimes it is good to promote from within the family and it makes perfect sense to make Lockette a member of the family as well. Then when HB moves on, Lockette replaces him the u bring in Sed Irvin and continue that cycle.
 
Hiring a RB coach with zero playing or coaching experience on the offensive side of the ball is just stupid. Bad decision.


And if you think an RB coach is meaningless and doesnt have a significant impact on a RBs performance you don't know **** about football.

Paul Johnson, David Cutcliffe and George O'Leary never played college football. Just sayin'.

Neither did Jedd Fisch.

You'd be shocked if you knew how many coaches played different positions then they coach . Better yet how many ended up on opposite sides of the ball. If you been around football as long as these coaches have then you know " football".

Position coaches are way overrated anyways, especially rb and wr.

So much stupid whining. You know who never coached RB's or even offense before he became RB's coach at UM? Don Soldinger.
 
Logical move. H. Brown probably hired initially to non-coaching position with the idea if he did a good job and something opened on the staff that he would be considered. With the movement this offseason, he likely would have moved on if not promoted. Maybe this opens another entry spot for Lockette or Bennett.

1- Terrible move? Nobody knows that.....
2- Terrible recruiting class?..........unfounded, totally ignorant statement.

I know you're nothing but a troll, but that's because Coker and Shannon had no clue how to pick assistants, while Golden has shown that he is very astute at it. Golden's first 3 assistants to leave all have better jobs now than they did at Miami. Coker had mass firings and Shannon had to fire his first 2 coordinators. So it makes sense that if Coker or Shannon picked an assistant, he likely sucked.
 
We now have a RB coach with no experience at that position and a WR coach with no experience at that position.

I don't like this trend.

I was going to type the same thing.

Don Soldinger was a LB coach in the 80s and Davis hired him as a RB coach in '95.
