4/24/13: Miami has offered RB prospect Nick Chubb from Cedartown, GA. Nick is rated 95 and ranked the #8 RB in the nation by 247Sports Composite.

Nick is a big running back, just what Miami is looking for in this class. However, Chubb will be a very tough pull for the Canes. However, if Sony picks UGA, it might open the door for Miami with Nick. Obviously, Coach Golden is hedging his bets against Michel and Cook.

It’s getting interesting.

Trent will announce his school of choice on May 24th, the day of his spring game. Miami has much ground to make up with this prospect. Right now itlooks like a Florida and FSU battle. It will be interesting to see if the Canes can get into the discussion.

Jamardre has no leaders currently, so the Canes will have a fair chance to compete for him. Some experts expect him to commit to UCLA, but the offer has not yet come from that school. USC could also enter the picture if they decide to offer.

ESPN reported two days ago that OT prospect Juwann Bushell-Beatty has narrowed down his schools to three. Here’s what they had to say…

“The 6-foot-7, 330-pound cornerstone has offers from the likes of Florida, Florida State, Miami (Fla.), Michigan and Tennessee, and his top three schools are Boston College, Florida and Michigan. He took recent trips to Boston College and Michigan.”

4/27/13: Arrion Springs was surprised at his ranking when the ESPN 150 was released last week. He never thought he would be ranked in the 150. But he’s excited to be the #44 ranked player in the nation by that media outlet. He nows has 20 offers and is one of the hottest prospects in Texas. He is really happy that one of his two favorite schools has offered; the University of Miami. In a ESPN article this week, they identified his favorite schools...

“With so many offers on the table, Springs is playing this game his way. He has repeatedly called Oregon and Miami his two favorite schools. He finally landed an offer from the Hurricanes on Tuesday and wants Oregon to send coaches to Roosevelt this spring to evaluate and offer him.”

Springs has repeatedly said he wants to go to college outside of Texas. More to come…

“New York City is not known for producing a large quantity of football talent, but the quality is up there with the rest of the country. Athlete Curtis Samuel (Brooklyn, N.Y./Erasmus Hall) and ESPN 150 defensive tackle Thomas Holley (Brooklyn, N.Y./Abraham Lincoln) were positional MVPs at the camp and among those most impressive players Sunday. Samuel looked smooth in one-on-one drills, and Holley made quick work of the offensive linemen in pass-blocking drills.”

CaneHunt '14: How do I confirm an "offer?"

4/28/13: A number of you have asked and questioned how I confirm a UM football scholarship "offer." As I've said on multiple occasions, I'm just a fan like the rest of you. However, I have multiple subscriptions to online sites that I read everyday. For example, I'm have an ESPN Insider subscription. Same with 247Sports, etc. I have found both to be very credible sources. They never report unless they have solid confirmations. If either confirms, then I bring it back to you, the UM fans.

I apologize if I didn't make that clear. Oh yes, rumors that I personally walk to every recruit's house to confirm are highly exaggerated. LOL!

“Four-star offensive guard Quenton Nelson (Red Bank, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) is one of the nicest players off the field, but there is a nastiness about his game when he is on it. The offensive line MVP played through the echoes of the whistle, and he wasn’t afraid to mix it up a little when the one-on-one battles got a little heated. Still, Nelson was quick to help opposing linemen up -- after punishing them to the turf to begin with.”
