Armbrister to LB

I don't like this move simply cause we lack numbers at safety this year and especially next year. It's the same reason I didn't like moving Dye and Perry from DE. We had 3 SR DEs and 1 JR who everyone figured was eyeing the NFL after that year. So this year we'd have zero depth and even last year once the suspensions and injuries hit we had zero depth on the DL yet those two never moved over back to DL and didn't do anything at TE either. For the same reason I didn't like moving Jeremy Lewis to OL from DT and didn't like that they wanted to move Luther Robinson. Can't move guys from spots with little to no depth - even if they aren't good cause if any injuries happen then the team is a$$ed out.

can add for this same reason I figured we might as well just have Davon Johnson stay at WR. He wasn't going to be Sam Shields converting to DB. Just leave him at WR so we can have some scholarship bodies at the position for times like now in the spring were we don't have anyone. If anything he could have been the designated "go route" runner.

Davon is 2nd string @ cb...likely will see time similar to Lee Chambers last year.

I dont understand the David Perry to te move......that kid wont perform their imo...Dyron Dye is a nice blocker...likely was our best last yr..better than Chase Ford bum a$$ so i can deal with it.

But Perry should be kept at de......

they were tryna push Luther Robinson out....and Jeremy Lewis is earning reps on the ol..which is very good.

I don't see Johnson listed on the depth chart at all. and after all the freshmen come in where will he be?

and I understand trying to push Robinson out if you have someone to replace him with. But Grimble and Pierre don't seem ready to be counted on to play big minutes at DT yet. Robinson is still needed.

I thought they were trying to push Robinson out too. But maybe instead, they were trying to light a fire under his ***.

I used to really care about depth charts and numbers and all that. And still do to a lesser extent. But i've come to realize that IF a kid isnt a player, it doesnt matter where he get placed. He's just a warm body that might make you feel good that a position has been "shored up" on paper, but in the real world, it doesnt matter because that kid aint going to be seeing real playing time and if he does, you're in a world of hurt anyway.

If the kid can't play safety then who gives a sh*t about numbers. How about this: If we have two safeties that are upperclassmen this year and then 5 guys behind them that can't play the position, does it matter? We still have zero safeties next year. You find a spot where he can contribute, not where he looks tidiest on the depth chart.

75, Some Cane fans are not happy unless there bad mouthing kids. No one has seen this kid play one play of college football but they lean to the negative side. Justice would be to go watch their kids play and bash them the same way and see if they can take it. Hey, Your kid sucks, he will never amount to ****, he is garbage. I wonder if they even would talk to their kids with the same language knowing they will never be a superstar in a sport. iF YOU HAVE KIDS MAN UP AND TELL US WHERE THEY PLAY,see how it feels on the other side.

mostly this ...

but that man won't be playing any at LB either. the numbers game isn't just about who's going to be out on the field right now or starting next year. need numbers just for reps in practice. keep guys fresh. if anyone gets hurt you don't have to start switching everyone around. you can have someone step in who at least knows where he's supposed to be. look at last year we had guys falling like flies at DT. we don't use Corey King's RS if we got "just a guy" to put there at DT. I'd rather save a RS year if possible for a guy who can develop down the road. the team probably won't be winning a ton this year anyway. might as well get some guys a year to build their bodies and get ready for when the team hopefully makes that big push forward.

King aint a sophomore according to the official roster. We were able to redshirt him and he is listed as a RS-FR on the official roster.

the talk was it was getting burned since we had so many injuries. i barely got to watch the last two games live while traveling. hopefully he really did get that RS. that's one thing that we need to get back to doing. saving them RS years. In '08 I understood just playing them all, but after that we needed to get some guys RSed.

Yeah we ended up getting lucky and didn't have to burn King's RS.

Can Armbrister take Ray Ray with him?

What we have going on with the safety depth chart right now is the definition of a "prettiest fat girl" contest. Biggest black hole on the team by far...even worse than the D End position.

Should be easy to get a couple of kids to commit at the safety position in the next class, as soon as they sign the LOI they are 1st on the depth chart

Christ. I guess that means he didn't have any long term ability at S because all we have there is RRA, VT, Highsmith, Rodgers, and Swasey.

I got to think the staff sees some of these DB newcomers at S.

That position is downright scary.

:ohlord:...and very scary
