Armbrister to LB

We need them too... As long as they know their role and give us our all... We'll be alright this year with Ray and VT... Next year we'll need someone to step up for sure...

But we don´t actually have anyone on the roster at safety next season after KRodgers. Even if he steps up big-time and plays at an all-ACC level (yeah, right), who will play next to him?

Unthinkable that none of this years signees moves to safety.

As I said in the other thread, I just hope it's not Bush. They signed him and told him he would get a shot at CB and that's where they wanted him. Maybe a kid like Dortch can put on some weight and play S, but isn't he thin as a rail right now?

Wasn't AJL going to be a DB at the begining of his recruiting? With the WRs we signed last year, and the ones available this year, any way this happens?

I don't understand the struggle at safety recently. We've had a such a strong tradition of superstar safeties. I mean you got Blades, Williams, Reed, Taylor, Phillips just to name a few. I don't get it. Same with TE's and DT's actually.

Not according to Nites...

i never understood these types of statements.

not trying to bash you, but what do those guys have to do with this year's squad? do you think recruits look at Miami and say, "Sean Taylor and Ed Reed played there. I know that was a few coaching staffs ago, but they still must know how to coach up safeties!"

just because we had strong players at certain positions at certain times does not mean we are a lock for stud kids to come in and play at that position.

and to clarify, i'm not saying that guys like E Reed, Taylor, etc., don't mean anything to our program. there's obviously a tradition of great athletes that played here. but just because we had great players here in past years does not mean that we are entitled to pull in all the top athletes today. there's no sensible logic to those kinds of statements.

IMO: i think Bush will end up at safety to help his team... and jenkins will be at safety as well. as some get red shirted they will build and we will have guys playing solid at both CB and S. no need to worry. If you watched these guys video they played both S and CB and are very good at it. Miami kids Florida kids are very athletic and AG new what he was doing when he recruited these guys. AG is persuing 2 candidates in the 2013 class though. Carter and Burns. Rome wasnt built in 1 day fellows... just wait and see... I know we want to win now, it will get better. AG is very compitant!

I don't see Bush at Safety unless paul williams has a secret spell that gives a player safety instincts. Bush's strengths are his physical abilties. If you tell him all you have to do is cover this WR 1 on 1, he will be phenomenal. I don't expect him to get burn this year because I think he needs to work on his zone coverage and his ability to decipher run/pass while maintaining strong coverage. But, I really don't want him moving to safety.

On the other hand, I'm almost positive Gunter will end up at Safety by next spring at the latest. He has the size, aggressiveness, and seems to play best in space.

75, Some Cane fans are not happy unless there bad mouthing kids. No one has seen this kid play one play of college football but they lean to the negative side. Justice would be to go watch their kids play and bash them the same way and see if they can take it. Hey, Your kid sucks, he will never amount to ****, he is garbage. I wonder if they even would talk to their kids with the same language knowing they will never be a superstar in a sport. iF YOU HAVE KIDS MAN UP AND TELL US WHERE THEY PLAY,see how it feels on the other side.

+2

SOmething not yet mentioned about Armbrister is that he was sort of an after-thought pick up. IIRC, our class was finalized then Armbrister was brought in late (w/Junior Alexis). From the day he came here people were saying he would never be a safety here, although it wasnt based on his size but rather lack of D1 abilities.

Im actually excited to hear that he's moving to LB. For the first time I see a place for him on the roster, even if he's never a starter here.

If you've never seen the kid play it makes n sense to write him off this early or get excited about a position move. let things transpire or atleast give the kid a chance before you wirte him off based on heresay

Deon Bush is not a safety...Thats very easy to see....he is a corner he doesnt have safety instincts

In his video he is playing safety a lot

And his video is not very impressive. Nor are his stats, nor was his impact on the game for a major BCS recruit at the HS level. Bush's highlights consist of routine tackles and plays, not really even "highlights". At safety he gets no interceptions, has minimal break ups, and doesnt even cover a lot of ground in run support (runs come to him when he then makes a solid tackle).

Bush was recruited by everyone. But, he was recruited almost completely on potential. He has a very high ceiling, but he has a low floor as well. The most impressive thing Bush has done to this point was his So. FL Express tryouts (where he was dominant in 1 on 1s). He also held his own well at CB at the Army game.

I'm excited for Bush at Miami, but expect nothing from him next season. Howard and maybe Crawford I see competing immediately.

This. We're not talking about a four star kid, here. Golden knew he needed safeties, and took a shot. It didn't work. Big deal. What were his other options at the time? At least we've got an athletic kid who might help somewhere else down the road.
