Vilma and Morgan weren't Vilma and Morgan as sophomores either. Let Perryman do his thing for his whole career and then judge him.

Not to get into the rest of the morass this thread fell into, but Vilma was **** good as a sophomore. He was All Big East. And came up big in the NB game, amongst others.

All Big East was akin to being All ****** back in those days. I remember Vilma's career arc quite well, and I'm positive he wasn't the same player his sophomore year as he was his final year here. That was the point. He was good as a sophomore, and so was Perryman for that matter. But he wasn't the finished product just like Perryman isn't yet. I'm sure you get that point.

I just disagree on this one. Vilma was very good as a sophomore, and considerably better than Perryman, IMO. And you can dump on being all big east, but as a sophomore, it is evidence that he was a difference maker and got noted for it.

During Vilma's sophomore year, people were criticizing our LB unit as a whole for pretty much the entire season up until the NC game.

*shrugs*

Some people criticize everything, at all times

The unit was young

Vilma wasn't the only guy on the unit

*shrugs*

I love Perryman, he may not be Lewis, Vilma or Morgan, but the kid is a baller and hits like a mack truck. With improved DL play, he could easily be All-ACC.

Perryman had an ankle that bothered him for the majority of last season. So, I agree that it wasn't a great year for him. But that doesn't diminish that, if healthy, he'd be at the same level Vilma was at. He was better as a freshmans than Vilma was as a freshmans and was axed to do more for the team.

All I ax from fans is that they don't compare Perryman to Vilma with the cloud of Vilma's upperclass heroics and great NFL career fogging their judgment. Give Perryman a chance to get there.

Well said.

If Perryman remains healthy, he will be a really good pro LB. He could even be a great one. But at the same time, he has barely had time to get rolling here, so let's just let him do his thing.
