Apologies to Coach D

Even if it is on the the players the dc has to know what he has to work with and make adjustments, corch D is unwilling to adjust.

and that is one of the reasons y our defense looks worse than what it is. Granted, our defense is light years from being elite right now but it shouldn't be this bad. I have a fear that coach D and Golden are banking on The D being elite with top notch players but what if it isn't? That would mean we have wasted so much time by not adjusting to the players strength and altering the scheme.

Y'all might not want to hear this but, my untrained eye just re-watched the condensed version of the game and most of what happened that night were on the players. There were about 4 to 6 gaping hole plays but it was hard to tell if they were on the players or the scheme. Even if they were all scheme (my guess would be 50/50), one really can't expect a perfectly called game. Most times players were in position to make plays but didn't. And of course there were the turnovers. Re-watching the VT game has actually given me hope against Duke, and before I was debating whether to even watch the game.

One other thing, coach Coley throwing the ball wide to Walford several times: SMH

Regardless of what Able and the rest of the "you know how this will turn out" brigade say, I have to ask:

Can you show us through evidence? Grab the video. Point us to the time in the video we should look at. Let's have a discussion on this that isn't just about "you know how this will turn out."

Again, I am not defending the entire system, this is just about the VT game. I only saw about 3 really bad instances of wide open receivers. One Tracey lined up way off the wr on a 3rd and short then turned to run at the snap of the ball. Either that was a mistake by tracey or coach d playing soft. conceding the 1 st down in order not to give up the big play. I am not sure which. Another was late in the game on a crossing route that ran into an area of the field that we were blitzing from. But it looked like there were two blitzers which is odd. Either a mistake by one of the players or coach d's scheme. Not sure which. Maybe 1 or 2 more that I can't remember now and I'm at work so I can't check. The rest of the time the players were close enough to make a tackle and/or a play on the ball which is what I think this scheme is about. They just didn't tackle well or make enough plays on the ball. This is just the VT game. Yes there were some scheme weakness but most it was the players not making plays. Plus the other team came to play ball too. They are going to win some plays regardless of scheme.

Please show us where.
