Anthony Mckfarland ...?

As a player Ray is the GOAT at his position but in that same speech he talked about trailblazers and pathfinders and how they are different when in reality they are synonymous. He is wrong. Miami was built on changing minds, Howard started by convincing everyone that instead of leaving Miami, the kids needed to stay in Miami. This crosses over whether kids are local or not. How good would we be this year if we had changed Cook's mind? Like I said we need to convince McFarland and Juedy that they need to be Canes.
His point was to distinguish following a path created by others from creating your own path. It's an important message to give to HS recruits whether they want to go to UM or not. There are plenty of people telling them what path to take. He's saying create your own.

Did i say he was gone? Just said it aint good he wasnt there

Not necessarily bad.
Really, means nothing.

Well he just named bama his leader so there is some concern
With what Bama has at RB and who's coming the next two years, McFarland should see garbage playing time by 2019

If true . . . do not want.

What rb that we're recruiting wouldn't see garbage time at Bama until 2019? Too be fair they're extremely loaded...

Honestly you can create your own path anywhere. I'm sure Saban was selling that pitch when he first started at Bama. Hopefully Richt has the same success Or better helping to get kids drafted and winning games at UM.

I know what he meant to say, but the words he used in comparison were synonymous not antonyms. It was a cheap shot by me as I admitted. Still the part about, you are either for us or you're not is ridiculous seeing as so many UM greats weren't exactly all Miami the whole time through their recruitments, just as is the case for many other schools. It goes back to my original point that Miami will never be Miami again, if they just rely on landing die hard born Canes. The subject was McFarland and a poster stated that he was done with recruits playing games and he only wanted real Canes. That is not gonna get this program where it needs to go. You won't find success if you just duck and bow out anytime you have some adversity. Miami needs to convince kids like JJ, D Smith and McFarland that they should be Canes if we to return to the glory days. Its what everybody that is winning is doing right now. You think Jaboo Winston was born a FSU fan growing up in Bama? No but Jimbo got him and the rest is history. Like I said earlier, how good would we be this upcoming season if we had convinced Cook and Ridley that Miami was the place to be?

Four pages of dumbass speculation and it may just be a simple lack of money as per Bartow the family spent all they had up until the Opening?

Some things never change.

Kids parents just spent $1000 to come down a month or 2 ago and now everyone wants him to come to a weekend camp and have his parents spend another $1000? I what would an RB be able to show at a camp anyway? And what did the kid have to prove? He has his offer. He has nothing to prove. It is Miami that has to prove to him that we are not a joke of a program.

If games were won on Saturdays by chest thumping quotes, we would have a 20 year unbeaten streak. These quotes sound great but it's bull****. Of course you sell the program. To say otherwise is just living outside of reality.

Knocking a kid for wanting to go and compete at Bama is ridiculous as well. In the end, hopefully he picks Miami but if you don't think we are going to be selling the **** out of this program to McFarland and 100 kids like him, then you're not being realistic. But hey, reality doesn't make plaques does it?

No actually it wasn't... My comment was about kids being wishy washy, I'm saying I don't care if they come here or not because I prefer the kids who actually want to be here over the ones who are unsure.
Go check any Paradise Camp thread, I was more than ecstatic the entire weekend.

Trust me I know, I was following all those threads all weekend. Just trying to point out that this event is there to try and lure the players you seem to want to not come at all.

I'm sure you've been following college fb and recruiting for as long as most
on this board, so you know what a kid names as leader 7 months before signing
day means nothing.
Even if he named UM as the leader, it would also mean nothing at this point since
we still need to put on a good product on the field.
Also, this is a DeMatha kid, and they usually don't play games.
They take their visits and then commit, not the other way around.

Ok? So we cant be concerned that a kid who just named bama his leader after having us as his top who doesnt show up to our biggest recruiting weekend in awhile????

Be concerned if you like.
I am not going to tell ya how to react.
But I think some folks are getting carried away with this event.
No question Paradise Camp was a wonderful idea and apparently it was splendidly executed.
Connecting all of our former greats with these kids is wonderful because for once
they aren't being brainwashed by that SEC propaganda.
We have our own culture, as rich as those trailerpark schools.
Having said this, folks are acting like this event was one of those official visits
in January, a mere few weeks before signing day.
It isn't that crucial, really.
Because some kid does or does not show up is not really a big deal at the
end of the day.
Only thing to worry about in the middle of July is grilling, beer and nice days at
the beach.
In the meantime, in a couple of months we need to worry about winning, avoiding
embarassing national tv drubbings and showing up to games.

See now you are just downgrading the event, you don't understand how big this event was for the university and our recruiting, he has go e to other schools events, im with you that there is still time and im not saying hes gone, but the timing of him naming a leader and him not showing up can raise some red flags
Yea or the opening and flying across the country isn't cheap for these kids and there families. Some of them are three pay checks away from being broke. Let it play out. Bama isn't telling kids don't go camp here or there in the summer. If they were a lot of there kids **** sure wouldn't make it to the Florida and Georgia camps. And if he doesn't want to come then ultimately that's on him. I personally think just being in his top 2 is a win after the last 2 seasons we've had. Makes the future look bright if we win.

I didn't say I didn't want them to come to Miami at all, my point is, if they're unsure then they don't belong. Kids like Deejay & DJ, Brian Edwards, Dingle, Frierson, etc.. and others know that they want to be Canes. I'm saying I want those types of kids to play for us, the ones who understand what it means to be a Hurricane.

Garbage time in 2019 would be garbage time as a sophomore. If thats the case I am still passing . . . unless you think that he starts here sooner. I want kids that are just as good or better than what Bama is getting.

Just pointing out that we currently don't have a shot at any rbs better than him...

The fact that you are wringing your hands over a kid who didn't take a second trip to Miami after having spent time (and
considerable money) visiting other schools and camps this summer is what is ridiculous.
You're making too many assumptions about who he favors, and even if you knew IT IS STILL 7 months from signing day.
And as for me supposedly downgrading the event, you're overreacting.
Like I said, the event was a great idea and it was fun to follow, but it really doesn't help much if we don't take
care of business on the field this fall, and by we I mean the team winning game and fans doing their part as
well.
