Anthony McFarland, Jr.

I think he chooses UMD in the end.

I do too. Hope I'm wrong.

I think this list is in order. Miami on top, if Maryland has a nice season (which is possible) he goes there.

Maryland on top and if they have a bad season maybe he comes here. Dude is feeling maryland right now. Said he thinks they can win 8 games this year.

How many times have you seen a local kid who ended up not signing here praised the team and have hype for us during the Golden days?

Bruh maryland leads. In recent interviews dude was talking about not wanting his family to have to travel far for games and all that.

Local dudes in other states are not like these south florida boys. South florida dudes jump on whoever is hot.

Top Maryland kids don't traditionally stay home, or else Maryland would be really good.

No top maryland guys dont because they really had no choice. The other dude brought up locals hyping up miami during golden time here and then going somewhere else. I just was saying that you cant compare them to south florida guys.

Buddy of mine close to that team reiterated to me tonight that it's a Miami-MD battle (he said that a while back).
I lived in that area for years. He's going to have a lot of pressure to stay home, especially since they are rebuilding with new coaching in College Park.
My older sister lives out in Bowie & my cousin played Fball & Bball for Oxon Hill years some years ago before he moved back to Florida.
Wow... PG County. Your sister probably hits Bowie Town Center sometimes. My young kids are in the next county over, Montgomery County. I'm up there all the time. The rest of the fam is still in the 305.
Yup yup... I visited them a while back, it was pretty cool, but snowed the whole winter time, lol. I did catch some Eleanor Roosevelt & Dematha games though, they were pretty good, but that area is all about Basketball, even though some talented football players come outta there.

They just won 3 games last year like they're not good. Win 10 at least he'll be here

Don't think this matter some kids want to stay home to play in front of friends and family .

Never said that isn't true but if that's all that mattered IMO he wwould've already committed. Ijs like every year we all act like psychics and every year everybody gets multiple picks wrong and this can eeasily be one

The same pressure that Dwayne Haskins felt when he flipped from Maryland to Ohio Taint?

LOL.....small world....lived all over Montgomery and PG County over the years including Potomac, Laurel, Greenbelt and Bowie.
Know those areas well.
Definitely a basketball area.
Lots of great HS programs.
But football is very underrated and it continues to improve because the area is growing rapidly, especially PG county.
Lots of families from the Carribbean, west Africa, etc and many of their kids are playing football.
All major college programs recruiting this area hard.

I'll be happy when Miami doesn't have to hope for a team to lose every game, just to get a recruit.

There is no hometown pressure to stay in Maryland. People here couldn't care less about college football. This is pure pro-sports state. You also have so many people in this state that aren't from this state. They all come here for the federal jobs. So you don't have that entrenched, bleed Maryland base that really creates hometown pressure.
That's not to say he isn't going to Maryland. But if he does, it won't be due to hometown pressure.

.@RyanBartow with an update from the road on Top247 RB Anthony McFarland Jr. and Miami. It’s a positive one.

Miami is the preference for the mother of four-star running back Anthony McFarland Jr. (Hyattsville, Md./DeMatha Catholic).

McFarland said Miami and Maryland are now tied with Alabama on top. He favored the Terrapins and Hurricanes this spring.

The Crimson Tide slipped ahead in July at The Opening.

McFarland Jr. said he will start taking official visits later this fall. He’s unsure of any official visits destinations and dates at this point.

He said he’s down to Miami, Maryland, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida.

He did point out that he’s back in talks with Penn State, an early favorite, and said the Nittany Lions are sliding back in for him.

McFarland, who is out for his senior season with a broken fibula, is hoping to return for the Under Armour All-American Bowl January 1. He said he hopes to announce his college choice during the game if possible.

The Crystal Ball reads 31-percent for Miami, 31-percent for Georgia, his early leader, 25-percent for Maryland, six-percent for Florida State and six-percent for Alabama.

McFarland said he plans to take his Alabama official visit in mid-January.

The four-star recruit is ranked as the nation’s No. 3 all-purpose back in the 2017 class by 247SportsComposite.

"McFarland said he plans to take his Alabama official visit in mid-January." To me that sounds like he's probably picking Alabama, then again mama wants him at Miami!
