Got to do something different, we by far lead the country in decommitments the last 5 years. Even Sorry *** willy Taggart hasn’t had a single decommitment in his 2020 class. I know We can drop kids but these decommitment notes that drop and etc is just bad for perception really
It’s asinine that UMiami had 15 kids committed before any of them played a single snap in their junior year. Miami will never be able to move over to the Clemson model, but the school sets itself up for defeat this way. As always, winning over a long period (30+ wins in 3 years) would minimize this issue
When Tim Burns committed, Manny talked to Tim about the value of commitment and how the players need to focus on that commitment because other recruits weren’t. Instead of trusting impressionable recruits to change things, he could’ve asserted his power and told it like it was, “Don’t commit here unless you’re 100% invested. Don’t take 5 summer visits to other schools next summer etc etc etc.” The fact that Manny brought it up and told Burns that other coaches will begin to call him more often is good, but wish he would take it a step further. Only the elite elite should have committable offers at this point.
Miami doesn’t need to take every 2021 kid that wants in. There are 2021 commits from the tri county area that never even made it to campus this summer.
