Another Art Kehoe-ism

Kehoe gets a lot of complaints, but the OLine is consistently the best unit on the team. Granted, that guard-center tap from the bowl was a bit embarrassing, but everything about that game was embarrassing.

That's like complimenting the tallest midget in the room.

Art is a Cane's Cane. He is our biggest cheerleader and probably our best mouth piece. He talks a great game. I love him as a Cane, but I would prefer he was not our OL coach. I agree with those Canes who have pointed out our inability to move the ball in short yardage situations. Even the quote of Kehoe in the OP quirks me. His whole theory that it doesn't matter what position you play on the offensive line and rotating linemen is dead to me. Get your best five, coach them up, and KEEP them in their position. Mind you not all of this is on Kehoe because some of what we do on offense is to blame for how some of our guys look. Watching Bunche try to get out and block in space is painful. Anyway, again love Kehoe but wish we had someone else as our OL coach. And yes he was part of five national titles. Will always be grateful for that.

Henderson was a freshman All American and Kehoe turned him into a part timer.

No excuse for using Wheeler over McDermott at center.

If he had any guts, he would have told Golden O Lineman don't shuffle between plays.

Wheeler was better than McDermott. That was clear. If you wanna see a rag doll rematch the Florida game and only watch McDermott

What do You think Kehoe and Stoutland just forgot how to coach? Our lineman struggle to get a push because we are lacking in talet and the S&C department. Henderson just never got out of his own way.

Shannon only recruited 2 true solid LIneman (Linde and Bwash ). We had/have guys like Pipho, Gunn, Franklin, Figs, Horn, Ben Jones who were nobody's coming out. Then He added guys like McDermott (serviceable) Feliciano (nobody but is pretty decent) Henderson (bust) Bunche (serviceable) Barton (LOL) Jer. Johnnson (quit).

Under Golden we have guys who are maulers! Isadora (highly sought) Gadbois (one of the best OL from Ga) Gall (Solid underrated guy from OH) Flowers (stud) Odogwu (high ceiling) Knighton (stud) McDermot (stud) Darling (stud) Linder (stud) Gibbons (stud)

Now we really get to see what staff can do with real deal talent.

Lacking in talent and S & C?

Linder is probably going to be one of the strongest guys at the combine. Don't be surprised if he pumps out 40+ reps on the bench.
For pure tackles Seantrel will be one of the strongest and probably the most agile.

Tell yourself they suck all you want but I'm willing to bet that when the combine comes around these 2 will be amongst the "risers."

The line's issues were definitely not talent and strength.

the stretch play lowered our ypc by about half this season.

for some reason we could not execute that play... and it wasn't because our OL can't move.

They were phenomenal in getting down field on WR screens all season. I'm not sure why the stretch was so poor, but it was... and should have been abandoned. It almost cost us the UNC game. Luckily Coley threw it out that game and just in time.

So basically we will see real coaching once we have 5* across the line. Got it...

I didn't say that. But your expectations from guys who barely had any offers is ridiculous. Guys like Flowers and Linder have thrived under Kehoe. Both of which were highly rated.

???? Linder was the top center nationally in his class, and Flowers was a 5* on some recruiting sites. Again, what was your point?

Couple things we do wrong. Very predictive formations and personnel give away what we run. We don't block well in space, and our screen game is mediocre at best. With the talent we do have, we need better coaching.

our run block scheme is pretty bad in some cases....fundamentally plays are killed before they happen...and that was saw all year....

example...watch the play Burgess blew up in the bowl...who was suppose to make that block..and look where he would have o come from to make it...

2.) The pulling play that easley ate all game where the center is expected to block baack on him is comical...he has no chance regardless who he is....

theae things just get amplifiesd in s hort yardage situations when you bring everybody in tight..plus some of our guys arent that athletic to be reach blocking or zoning to the second level...guys like Malcolm Bunche shave problems wiping their ***....but they do well ina phone booth...Feliciano amybe our most coordinated guy/ tween him nd Seantrel of all people.......pass pro we were pretty good ALL year imo.....

The Burgess play was Linder's fault. the backside tackle is steppng and hinging playing B gap to C gap. This is something that really bothers me. If Seantrel is there, does he make that mistake? Who knows. But the musical chairs that Al has the offensive line doing is garbage.

that five rings have nothing to do with anything

if we fail to adapt, improve, and innovate, those five rings will stay at five.

His work has been unsatisfactory on the field. More often than not, our OL played poorly.

Worst short yardage run blocking I've ever seen, multiple defensive players in the backfield within a second of the snap way too often, had real trouble with small, untalented DL's from poor teams.

Not to beat a dead horse but Art isn't the one calling the stretch runs on 4th & 1
