Anonymous NFL scouts on Elijah Arroyo

Call me a homer, but I think he’s the best TE in the draft. Best combination of size, speed, fluidity, hands, physicality and character. Hope the Chiefs pick him.
Definitely a homer ranking tbh lol.
I definitely think it's absolutely possible he ends up the best TE. But from just a most likely and most proven at this point, I don't think there is any way Warren and Loveland aren't the top 2. Having Arroyo at #1 involves a lot more projection, even if you are confident he reaches it...

On the Consensus Big Board Warren is a top 10 player, Loveland is a top 25. Then Mason Taylor is 53, Arroyo is 67, Fannin is 77, and Ferguson is 99.
If I were actually forced to choose who to draft out of those guys but within 5 picks of their ranking, I'm DEFINITELY going to choose Arroyo and Ferguson because I think they provide great upside, and pretty good floor, and are underrated at those rankings. But in terms of just purely the better prospect, I think it's clear Warren and Loveland are superior. And I don't think anyone is crazy for having Mason Taylor slightly higher or slightly lower (but same tier) as Arroyo either. If Taylor was our TE we'd be singing his praises too, and having a HOF father and being a consistently productive player over 3 years who has a good build and is a good athlete...

i have him as 2nd and thats being unbiased. Warren blocking sets him apart but all those other tes i truly dont think hold a candle to him....and yes he would 100 percent be the travis kelce replacement so them ****** up n passing may end up them getting him late 2nd or 3rd.

Arroyo looked like a better athlete, player than taylor at sr bowl. Taylor had a good showing but it was pretty clear who was better there.

Absolutely no ******* chance he's the best TE in the draft.

Loveland and Warren are two of the best and complete TE prospects we've seen in some time.

You are a homer (thank you, and me too!) and you are right. Both things can be true.

Also, the production issue only exists because we have a QB and OC who believed that offense worked best when the ball was distributed to numerous receivers. A team with X, Arroyo, George, Brown, Horton, Martinez should distribute the ball to all the playmakers. Saying he was not productive reduces the issue to the number of catches/yards without examining the offense as a whole and understanding why.

That kind of myopic vision is what limits people in their career advancement. He is not seeing the forest for the trees
I was listening to this draft podcast and the hosts were wondering why Arroyo didn’t get more touches. I’m saying to myself you Jacoby George at Z, Restrepo in the slot, Horton AND Brown in the boundary at X and two stud running backs. I’m surprised he got the touches he did!

Check the tape, Arroyo wins in run blocking more consistently. His highlights aren’t as impressive as Warren’s, but he definitely displays more willingness on a down to down basis. Loveland is one of the worst blockers in this draft class.
I've checked the tape, I very very strongly disagree.

Why?

You used the word “complete.” Arroyo is more physical and a better blocker than Loveland. He’s faster than both. And he’s a natural receiver.

What is he missing?

Arroyo will be the best TE drafted this year if he goes to the right situation. He's the most complete IMO.

Y'all need to stop wearing the Canes glasses every once in a while, good lord...

Loveland is a far better route runner over the middle of the field, far more durable, far more consistent with his blocking technique (something Arroyo doesn't have at all) and he is quicker in short areas. Arroyo is the better athlete, but more fast than quick, not very technically sound in either route running nor blocking and his injury history is a major concern.

There's no shame in saying that Arroyo can be glad if he's a late choice in the second round. But it's Warren, Loveland, a gap and then Arroyo.

I think Chicago or Denver would be 2 good landing spots for him. They both have TE needs and I think he would show out in these O's immediately. That's with a quick draft glance. I just want him to get drafted by the right team and most importantly, stay healthy. I personally have Warren and Arroyo as the 2 top TE's in the draft. I like a few. I wouldn't draft Arroyo in the 1st because injuries. He is for sure a 1st RD talent in my opinion.

Loveland is more fluid and a more natural receiver for sure. He reminds me of a Dalton Kincaid type. Basically a big slot who offers little in the running game. Definitely a move only tight end.

Warren is very similar in that he’s a move tight end. He has a bit more traits to be an inline tight end, but he didn’t do much inline. Again, Warren has some great blocking highlights, but watching him throughout the season left me wanting more from him blocking wise.

Arroyo is not as good of a blocker as Warren right now. However, he gets after it as a blocker. Blocking will never be an effort issue for him. With Warren and Loveland especially, blocking is an effort issue.

This is one reason why I believe that Arroyo can be as good or better than them. He has the potential to be a better inline tight end than Warren or Loveland.

So they're better technically, but not "effort", which is subjective to the eye on tape?

Okay. Let's pray Arroyo stays healthy first and foremost, before we talk about what he potentially eventually could be that hasn't shown up on tape.

Njoku was the third TE picked in 2017, but he ended up better than the guys picked ahead of him because he was more talented.
Evan Engram has caught 100 more passes for 1000 more yards over the course of his career. He was picked six spots ahead of Njoku.

I'm not sure David Njoku is better/more talented.
