Andy Garcia, LB, STA (2020)

Do you like him? Doesnt look like a great prospect to me

That’s good to know, coming from one of Richterscale’s biggest supporters. Thank God that you are not in charge of recruiting for the U.

Of course, now comes the part where you adopt Broke’s schtick about never having slurped an ex-corch. Even though all of CiS saw you do it over and over.

Things I like about Garcia: His motor is nonstop, he plays at a controlled paced, very technical (his tackles look the same which tell me he takes well to coaching), has played on the dline which correlates to him having some strenght to him, and he doesn't give up on plays.

Things I don't like: I see no explosive tackles. Not once did I see him run through an opposing player while making a tackle. He looks like a mediocre athlete. I know his shuttle says he's quick laterally but his film says different. Last, there's little film of him dropping into space to cover. Why is that? Is it because he can't or the coaches needed him rushing the QB in their scheme?

I need to see more from him before offering. The transfer to STA may allow him to showcase more of his abilities.

I haven't watched any film yet to comment on my findings, but one comments about yours that doesn't bother me is the lack of him running through opposing player while making a tackle. I couldn't care less if a guy is a drag down tackler or a guy that knocks people out.....all i care is if someone is IN POSITION to make the tackle and then doesn't miss.

It's important for a LB to be violent when tackling. LBers are expected to the enforcers of the defense.

Watch Ruben Foster's high school highlights then get back at me.

I could see us offering today. I like the kids tape and love his measurables. He looks like the type of LB that goes to BC and terrorizes us once a year. Being realistic, how would you guys feel about a LB class of Mathis, Cave, Flagg, and Garcia? That would seem to be a good blend of solid LB's each with their own question marks. Sucks it's such a down year for LB's locally.

Would be one of the shortest LB classes in the country lol

Kid gonna go to BC and come back and have a career game against us smfh.

Hope we throw an offer his way tho. We need a kid like this who will be here all 4-5 years and willing to sit a couple years to get bigger and better.

How do you get from the kids stats/testing he needs to sit a couple years vs. other guys we are after? His testing numbers plus height/weight combo is similar to Justin Flowe. He's more athletic, much bigger, and faster than Solomon who many were crying about last cycle. He could easily be 6'2 225-230lbs as a true frosh. How good of a LB is he on the field is my ? This is a kid to keep an eye on at STA. If his testing numbers show up on the field, he's going to get offers from everyone.

Testing numbers don't indicate awareness and understanding of the game. Yes, he played good at Heritage which is why I want to see if he can repeat those stats at STA. Since we are gonna lack LB depth next season he may be pressed to play early, but I would prefer a guy like him sit for a season a la those BC LB's.

If you replace either Flagg or Garcia with Hyppolite it would be a solid class, especially since Cave, Flagg and Garcia are all ILB’s. Replace Flagg or Garcia with Simpson and it’s a really good class.

Totally agree. Need Ruben in the class

If this staff offers, i hope they really do their due diligence because this kid is a huge UF fan. I don't want another Tarquin or Eguakaun situation.....

If he commits he better be all in..

I'm sure if we offer then UF will be right behind with an offer lol

I prefer Garcia over Flagg any day. Personally, I put the full court press on Wingo, Hyppolite and of course Justin"The Baby Man" Flowe. Keep recruiting Austin- Cave really hard as well.
Flagg > Garcia IMO. Flagg's insticts are special and will translate to the next level. Flagg has obvious physical limitations though. What makes you think Garcia is better than Flagg?
