And so it begins.. SEC & BIG flexing

This isn’t a discussion about do they deserve the spots
The issue is the fact they are going to demand that 8/12 play off spots are theirs
And 4 for everyone else
After a few more years it will be 10/12

Don’t blame them for pressing their advantage when they have it. The have the rest of college football by the baaalls.

I would think ESPN would not like the SEC destroying its other properties or refusing to play them.

“Thank you for the big money. Btw, we are gonna refuse to play the ACC and Big 12. Oh, and we are excluding them from the playoffs. Please stop covering them.”

ESPN won’t let that happen. This isn’t gonna be la liga with three potential winners. They would ruin CFB. Like when professional boxing went pay per view. It fundamentally changed one of America’s best sports. Nobody cares about it anymore.

I mean that’s just capitalism. You get the money and you leverage that money to get lawmakers to rig the game in your favor. Then you make even more money and then you rig it some more in your favor and so on and so on

I think both of those things will happen. But essentially, in the next decade, the SEC (whatever it looks like) and the Big 10 will have their own league and will play against each other for a championship. Whatever schools are left behind will be in a totally different league and will have zero involvement with the other P2 schools.
That used to be called a bowl game.
This hasn’t mattered since the BCS started.

The NFL is not produced for the fans.

College football is not produced for the fans.

No major sport is produced for the fans who support it.

Your passion is a bank account they want to drain.

Think of yourself as an investment strategy: you are financially and emotionally married to a product, no matter how bad it makes you feel.

Nothing else in life would you give this much time, focus, or money to. Especially as often as it disappoints you.

The names and logos aside, this is not the sport we fell in love with.

This is a business.
I'm getting a strange feeling as I sit here reading this after spending an hour browsing through these threads. I thought I was enjoying my team's good fortunes, only to realize I'm being Matrixed.

We absolutely have to find a way to win all of our games this season.

Careful now. B10 and SEC are pushing themselves dangerously close to an Anti-Trust lawsuit. Making moves that diminish the value of non-member leagues and institutions while simultaneously forcing institutions to make major concessions to obtain membership (i.e., taking less than full revenue shares) is ripe for Anti-Trust litigation.

If this, or some version of it is in the near future then it makes College ball that much less appealing.

How utterly lame is it to promote a 12 team playoff...But guarantee 8 spots or whatever to only certain conferences. It's not a real playoff then.

The quickest solution is to neuter the SEC. How can that happen? Have Mario get the Canes to Elite level and beating the SEC in NC game often as possible. If not us, Clemson, FSU.

Basically become Clemson from a couple years ago.

Naw they wanted to build these super conferences, so don't ***** and complain when yall give each other losses and get knocked down the rankings.

I wish we stopped the stupidity and created a league with a relegation system for football so that everyone has a chance. The Vandy's/Purdue's/Duke's of the world will be relegated because they won't spend the dollars to compete at the highest level and that's ok.

At the same time schools like SMU who are willing to spend to put a competitive team out there will get the opportunity to compete.
