And so it begins.. SEC & BIG flexing

“Sources in both leagues told ESPN on Monday they would prefer to have potentially four automatic bids each to the playoff when the next contract begins in 2026,” “CFP leaders haven’t determined yet what the playoff will look like beyond this season and next. Some said they need to know that before making any decisions about future scheduling partnerships.”

**** these ********

You'd do the exact same thing if you were in their shoes. I started a thread 2 years ago that is probably at 17,000 pages at this point about the utmost criticality of getting into a P2 league. I'm not a genius. It's pretty clear why I started the thread. It's the singular most important thing in our world right now.

Pretty soon, the playoff will ONLY be SEC and B1G. So the fact that there will still be other spots open for any other league is a blessing. It will not be that way for long. P2 or die, period.

The politicians will never allow that.

Careful now. B10 and SEC are pushing themselves dangerously close to an Anti-Trust lawsuit. Making moves that diminish the value of non-member leagues and institutions while simultaneously forcing institutions to make major concessions to obtain membership (i.e., taking less than full revenue shares) is ripe for Anti-Trust litigation.

SEC deserves it(not automatic but team wise). They have 4-5 of the top 12 teams.

Big 10...ehh OSU and then? Michigan and PSU need to earn it.

If you did it like almost any other level and did 16 teams they'd get their 5-6 most years, Big 10 would get their 3-4, ACC and Big 12 would get their 2-3 and that leaves 1-3 depending on the year for "others."

I mean the best high school teams play 13-16 games, FCS all use that format. NFL plays 17. **** I think D2/D3 even play 12-13

14-16 games for 4-8 teams isnt a bit stretch. And since most of the kids actually do need the degree 3-5 of these weeks basically fall over winter break.

Again..not all automatics. But the typical year to year break down until another conference chips away at it.
