You don't see Washington and Joseph as elite?
To be fair, we did just add Gore and Horton. Gore is a day 1 starter and will produce. I definitely think we might need a second portal DT to start along side Gorei would also add interior DT to that list
we needed a run stopper but have to look to the portal for that.
TIFWIW - Elite local WRs have little film to justify staying home this year. An improved offense in 2023 will likely get 1-2 to buy in in 2024 and beyond. Second, although elite WRs certainly help, if we continue to try to run a run based/play-action offense (which seems to be Mario/Gattis' MO), WRs are less a focal point and can be found in the portal. The WR recruiting continues to be a serious problem and I think the majority of us are frustrated by it. Hykeem, Inniss, Brown, etc.just gives us another year where all the truly elite local kids at WR spurn us and go somewhere else. I saw a stat the other day that showed where Georgia’s top 4 pass catchers this year are either TE’s or RB’s. Can it be done? Sure, but it’s not ideal.Over the last 10-15 years or so it seems like we do OK with those smallish, slot-type guys but we can never land the elite 5 star kids. Obviously, most people will point to coaching as the reason for this, but is there anything else we can be doing to fix this problem?
Those are different type of WR’s compared to the Innis’s and Hakeem’s of the world. They are amazing for the slot but we need some deep, outside, threats. The Innis’s of the world get you that #6.You don't see Washington and Joseph as elite?
Not outside WR1 type.. Mario said it himself in his recap with 247.You don't see Washington and Joseph as elite?
im not saying gattis is it but the talent that was here was GARBAGE. i think fans discount just how subpar both the playing capability and mental toughness of the manny guys is. most of them fold at a stiff breeze.
I believe they're pretty good but elite is stretching it. I think washington is pretty good with joseph being better but an elite version of that mold would be a zachariah branch. You don't see Washington and Joseph as elite?
You think this is just a Gattis problem? When is the last time Miami signed a clear cut can't miss WR from SFL?Gee I wonder why
When is the last time we put a WR in the league in the top rounds of the draft? If we give SFL WR a reason to come here they will, but we have no shot at it if we’re going to role out an absolutely trash offense and then make no moves to fix it. Honestly, if I was a stud WR I wouldn’t even talk to UM while Gattis is still employed. You think this is just a Gattis problem? When is the last time Miami signed a clear cut can't miss WR from SFL?
Yes, but this is a systemic problem. We can roll out Lashlee, Richt, Coley and on and on it goes and the story has been the same. There are going to be changes. When is the last time we put a WR in the league in the top rounds of the draft? You're not totally wrong, but you did choose to omit the part where Mario wasn't the one dropping all the passes.Sad part is that we were finally starting to get some WR momentum with what Rambo and Harley did in 2021.
Then Mario came in and did a 180° with our offense and now all the recruits (and most portal kids) are in wait and see again.
The negative recruiting for QBs and WRs is going to be tough to overcome unless we prove it on the field. And that's not happening with Gattis.
Ray Ray and Robbie Washington
Outside of Lashlee last season with what he did with Rambo, none of our OCs in years have given top WRs a reason to jump on board. Elite recruits want to know how we’re going to get them to the League and we have no legit case to make.Yes, but this is a systemic problem.
