An outstanding and truly epic recruiting class, but....

The WR recruiting continues to be a serious problem and I think the majority of us are frustrated by it. Hykeem, Inniss, Brown, etc.just gives us another year where all the truly elite local kids at WR spurn us and go somewhere else. I saw a stat the other day that showed where Georgia’s top 4 pass catchers this year are either TE’s or RB’s. Can it be done? Sure, but it’s not ideal.Over the last 10-15 years or so it seems like we do OK with those smallish, slot-type guys but we can never land the elite 5 star kids. Obviously, most people will point to coaching as the reason for this, but is there anything else we can be doing to fix this problem?

i dont disagree. our last elite WR was AR15. ever since then we've had nothing elite.

that said i do think with proper scheme and a TE that can block a lot of the woes will be eradicated even with mediocre talent. but the talent isn't mediocre anymore. these guys can play and with X healthy it is a whole different outlook.

Sad part is that we were finally starting to get some WR momentum with what Rambo and Harley did in 2021.

Then Mario came in and did a 180° with our offense and now all the recruits (and most portal kids) are in wait and see again.

The negative recruiting for QBs and WRs is going to be tough to overcome unless we prove it on the field. And that's not happening with Gattis.

Mario loves recruiting. When he identifies through results and conversations the people (gattis) and the system (bro style) aren't going to get him those top guys. He'll make the necessary changes. The rebuild wasn't going to be complete in 1 year and missing on the OC didn't help. Im giving Mario 3 years to get us competing with the top and I'm confident he'll lock up a WR1 by next signing day.

im not saying gattis is it but the talent that was here was GARBAGE. i think fans discount just how subpar both the playing capability and mental toughness of the manny guys is. most of them fold at a stiff breeze.

He made some of the worst play calls I've ever seen as an OC at Miami. Didn't use her personnel correctly at all.

We didn't have the talent to compete with the big boys but putting up some of the numbers he did (Clemson for example) showed me he isn't cut out for this job.

The plan is to just identify a couple of the more athletic o-line recruits and have them change postiions. The raw talent is threre.

(Gattis can't be gone soon enough)

Would rather have Washington over Brown at WR. Innis the one that will truly hurt. Keem needs a year or two before he probably starts to make a serious impact.

It’s not just that Gattis has a trash offense and calls plays like he’s pulling them out of a hat. It’s also that he’s a joke to the rest of the coaching community. He has no clout and no respect. People laughed when Miami hired him. Michigan thanked us for taking him. If another school is competing with Miami for a WR recruit, specifically an outside receiver, they just point to Gattis and say “that guy is not only your position coach but also your OC. You’ll be lucky if you get three targets a game” . Why do you think our receiver group is Colbie Young and 12 slot guys?

Didn't we just pick up two elite WR's? I get that neither is over 6ft but either of those boys would be the crown Jewell of a Manny Diaz recruiting class. We just need a couple of portal WR's and we are good..
