Amarius Mims Elite 2021 OT

I’m not saying they aren’t. More on its own the distance argument doesn’t make sense. It’s clear playtime and NIL will determine this recruitment.

Right, as usual, there’s more than 1 factor here. If the kid was from Minnesota, FSU probably wouldn’t be in the game. But Bleckley county is very much pro-FSU. You can get there in pretty close to 2 hours from Tally if you hustle.

when will some of you doom and gloomers learn? you can't judge a coach or a staff on one, two or even three recruiting misses. every staff misses on guys not to mention this is a transfer portal guy. each portal guy has his a different agenda. Playing time is obviously important in this case.

if Mims wanted to be close to home he would’ve just stayed at georgia, IMO.
Not necessarily, if he wants both a starting role AND being close to home. His issue at GA was that he has high NFL draft picks ahead of him with experience. At FSU he's the best OL the moment he walks on campus (same here as well), and he's only 3.5 hours drive from home. However, he'll be on a bad team with lower level coaching than he would get here, so hopefully he gives that more weight.

Dude's recruitment was peak COVID--that impacted his real options when he came out (we saw the geography factor to our benefit with James Williams and Leonard Taylor). He wants to get to the league ASAP. That's why he's transferring. I'm not buying marginal differences in distance from home being a real factor here. That's just FSU fans' hope.

Things will start to be clearer once there's confirmation of visit plans.

Yeah the hope is that his priority is being a high first rounder.

Who is more likely to achieve that?

How is it "clear"? Because you say so? Because some articles say so?

There may be one reason that leads to a decision, there may be multiple reasons, there may be multiple reasons with different weighted values. It might turn out that "NIL" and "playing time" are comparable for both UM and F$U, and then maybe "distance" becomes the tiebreaker.

I'm not sure why some posters are so certain about how a kid will make his decision, and which factors are most important. Last I checked, the kid hasn't given any quotes on these issues, it's just been internet writers who have given THEIR opinions.

I have not predicted, with any certainty, that Mims will pick Miami. I have, however, pointed out that the "Atkins connection" is not some super-factor to be compared with the (false) "Cristobal-Mirabal-non-connection".

But you and BreastMode seem to want to come back to this thread over and over again to rub your balls on everyone's faces.

You would think Mario has earned a little bit of respect already but our fanbase honestly has 37% troll bots enabled whenever a breeze of bad news comes our way.

Good

Lord

Would love to have Mims. I have wayyyyyyyyy more faith in where Miami as an institution is headed than anything FSU is doing.
Since our **** popping again, we have re attracted some of the clowns that were around on the early 2000s, type. Prolly were kids at the time and now they are full grown trolls. The ones who cheer for FSU and UF and Miami and sometimes Bama. Absolute clowns. I think we need to do a good job weeding them out or this board will turn into a cesspool like some past sites.

I’ve been following the recruiting game since the early 90’s. I have too many scars inflicted upon me by F$U to outright dismiss them. There is ZERO reason to fear the ‘Nolies, but nobody should be surprised if Mims lands there.

While F$U no longer has the pull or the resources they once had, do not underestimate the lure of Florida A&M, being closer to home and the relationship with Atkins. And, they did beat us on the field last year. Those are facts, not excuses.

What are you talking about? I said going closer to home makes no sense since UGA and FSU are similar in distance to his hometown. Distance may be a factor for FSU over Miami but saying he’s leaving UGA to go home and picks FSU doesn’t make a ton of sense. It’s rumored he’s leaving for playing time. What other reason could he leave? Luke leaving UGA or not liking Searles? Am I supposed to think he just rolled out of bed on day and said f it I’m leaving? I’ve also not pounded the table about this non connection with Mirabal. I’ve said if he’s got a connection with the guys at FSU it makes sense to a degree why he’d be interested and possibly go there. I’m going to base what I think about this recruitment by the available information. So far that’s playing time and NIL money. I’m going to post however I feel about this recruitment. I feel like it’s playing time and NIL due to the available rumors right now. I could be wrong but I’m not some insider, so gives a **** what I post anyway? Honestly I don’t care if you have a problem with me rubbing my balls over posts. Just move on if you have a problem with it.

Definitely. He’s probably got some pro-FSU stuff being fed to him while he makes he decision. We just need to get him on campus.

Mario doesn't have to guarantee him the starting spot, but these coaches/recruiters know how to sell the kid on the situation and let him form his own opinion.. you think this 5star is worried about our RT dudes.. If we get him down for Spring Game with the bells and whistles going into that with former players, and sneak in a campus visit to see future plans... gotta think its a slam dunk...

The heart wants what the heart wants, Mims may want to be closer to home, small town culture etc. With that said if he is humble enough he will realize that better coaching will give him the greatest possibility of an nfl career and that’s Miami.

Athens was a small town culture and he left. Hopefully, he is looking for something different. Hopefully, he wants to be coached by the absolute best combo of HC/OL coach in CFB and live in one of the most vibrant, diverse cities in the world.

Tuesday 10:45am Update
No major developments since my last update, but I have picked up on a few things:
-- Texas and Ohio State have been active and in contact with Amarius Mims in the last 24 hours. We'll see how invovled they get in the recruitment. Originally a source close to Mims told me distance was a factor....but so could NIL. I wouldn't rule out more teams trying to get invovled. I'll update if/when I hear more and if there's any traction with any new teams entering the mix.
-- Brendan Sonnone reported yesterday that Rising Spear has been preparing, and putting together, an NIL package that is ready to be presented to Mims and his camp. I'm not exactly sure when that will happen, but it could be as soon as today.
-- I do expect Mims to visit Florida State before making his decision. The key here will be to find out who else he's visiting. So far no other team sites are reporting a visit, but I woudn't rule that out and it'll be something I'm working to confirm. We'll also update this thread if/when Mims arrives on campus in Tallahassee.
-- As far as a decision date, sources tell me 'sooner than later'. I don't want to put an exact timeline on it, but I don't think we'll be entering the month of May still covering this recruitment. It should be wrapped up by then.
