I love this kid!!! I think he's highly underrated. His quickness and footwork is what you see in elite DTs and NTs.

If he works hard and adds more strength and polishes his technique he has All ACC potential IMO. He already uses his hands well to press OL off of him, then releases to make the tackle. You just don't see that type of quickness and footwork at the high school level.

I love the analogy by D$, "A basketball player in a NT body." This kid is athletic.

I like this one.
Good lateral movement, his hand technique is above average (just missing out on locking out often, but with time) and he often just makes a mess of things in the run game (biggest plus of it all).
He's gonna do well in the NT role here.
To be honest, this guy would absolutely KILL as an OG, but NT he'll do well.

Kid has a really high motor for a HS DT. That's one thing I loved about Nesta, too, and Haye is in that mold where he brings it on every play. He's going to need to improve is upper body strength before he can see a lot of action. But that lower body, wow, kid has tree trunks for legs.

I especially like that Haye knows how to man his gaps. In that defense, he is being asked to engage the OL and then shed him in either direction, so Haye essentially occupies two gaps at the same time. Very hard to do, especially when he was double teamed on several of those highlight snaps, yet he was excellent at it. Our LBs are always getting washed out by OL getting to them. Haye would free them up and make the overall defense much better. ... Now, he may be asked to just shoot gaps like our guys are often asked to do. But the fact he can hold a gap is super important if/when we finally get a real DC in here.

This kid is twitchy and moves so well for a big man. I like how he stacked the OGs in that clip. Excellent motor. Good burst off the snap. I think he's a better overall athlete than Nesta (not a better player at this point). Sheds blockers well but still needs to refine his technique. You need active DTs that can penetrate and create negative plays to get spread offenses off-schedule.

Two years of development in our S&C program and this kid could be a problem for teams we face.

You realise that's more difficult for a Hurricane to achieve than getting drafted in the first round, right?

Is he related to Jovan Haye, also from Broward who coached DL for Derek Mason at Vandy?
