Alex Collins reports in with....

Can confirm what JHallCanes is reporting about his announcement, but I can't confirm when it will take place. LOL

Anyway, Collins also said he would rate the trip a high 8, 9, or 10. To me, in recruit speak - 8 or 9 or 10 - means, "thank you kindly for the visit to your bucolic community...but I'm headed to Coral Gables." In all my years following recruiting I can't recall a kid mentioning 8 as a possible ranking for a school immediately following a visit. Most would probably just say I had a great visit and leave it at that. If he had wanted to say it was a 10 he would have called it a 10 - no harm in doing so. Kids do it all the time. Claim they had a great trip and then commit to where they really want to go on NSD. If he had wanted to say it was a 9 he could have said that - because truthfully that's not that bad either, but he didn't do that. I think that since Alex is an honest and affable kid who having not been indoctrinated into our culture of straight talk (see notably Kevin Patrick, Warren Sapp, and Michael Irvin) did not want to tell Razorback Nation the visit was more like a low 6. In short he took the high road after having his arm twisted to go in the first place.

Most telling was his comments about us and the NCAA. If you ask me to interpret he basically said he wants to know the results before he announces on the 4th but said he will try his best to make a decision that day even if he doesn't know.

Those saying he is looking for an excuse not to announce for us, would think differently if they read his comments IMO. I can't copy and paste it though.

Growing up in Ark I can honestly say that he would despise this place within the first year. The fans are obnoxious towards other teams and think they're the pigs are the greatest thing since sliced bread and are dominating the $ec year after year.

Yeah, I'm not making that up.

No idea what the connection is there.

Rivals put up an article that he'll announce on signing day.

I'm getting my info from an exact quote from Collins FWIW. Maybe he changed his mind.

Can someone explain to me how this seems like a good thing for us? Not trolling here, but I dont get the connection. If he's coming here, why would he be announcing to an Atlanta radio station? Granted Atlanta is not exactly FSU or Arkansas territory either, but it is SEC country. Kind of worries me. Especially with all the recent stuff about multiple "adults" trying to push him out of state. This kid and Thomas are the two Im most worried about. Coley would be a nice treat, but Ive never felt we were in the drivers seat, nor was he critical to this class, and if we get Bostwick, I can live without KB. Im going to be pretty bummed if we miss on Thomas and Collins. Wish I could share the optimism on here, but I still see a lot of warning signs.

I don't think anyone's saying it's a good thing he's announcing on an Atlanta radio station. Why is it a bad thing? I think it would be wise to gather more info on it before taking the typical glass half-empty approach because Atlanta isn't Arkansas either, and, no, it isn't the hub of the SEC either. Atlanta is actually the home of GT, not UGA.

Maybe it would be a good idea to see whose show he is announcing on. If it's the Darren McFadden and Felix Jones Power Hour, then we're probably sunk.
Not saying it's good, bad or whatever, but there are plenty more SEC alum and fans in Atlanta than GT fans/alum, even though GT is located there. There are probably more Auburn and Alabama fans alone in Atlanta than GT fans.

has anyone CONFIRMED that he is announcing on a radio show? where is this info coming from?

An interview he did. Collins said himself that he was announcing on the 4th, well it was in quotes anyway. The writer of the interview said the radio show part so no, that is not 100%. Haven't seen anyone refute it though.

Makes zero sense at all he'd be on a local Atlanta show. The show might be based out of Atlanta. I'm guessing it's one of the Sirius/XM college football shows like Bill King's 247 College Radio.

Exact words were "Atlanta radio station". No mention of specifics or if it's actually a local station or what. It is exactly what is being reported though, I assure you guys.

Now that this is resolved, what does the board want to nitpick next?

I hear Collins wore a red shirt for his kindergarten yearbook photo... must be a hog!

Fox Sports South covers all southern teams, not just the SEC, so it appears they just basically locked up the commitments of a few high name guys to drive traffic. I dont see any reason to freak out over the fact that they are in SEC country.

It's also one of the stations that picks up ACC Network games

This. Between it and Comcast Sports South, Miami is very well represented in "SEC country", so there should be no worries as to why Collins is announcing with them. It's because they asked.
