Al Golden's Pattern of Under Achievement

Zone, are you obsessed? You just drill down, I think your point has been made, whether accepted or not that is up to others, but quite frankly you need to lighten up.

i know there is a beating a dead horse emoticon in here some where. This board is tough to read right now.

Football boards are always rough when your team goes down the toilet. If you're looking for sunshine and rainbows coming off two catastrophic losses with the feeble Coastal on the line, then you're looking in the wrong place. Anyone happy with this team right now is a loser.

There is a substantial difference between it being "rough" and having the same posters **** and moan about the same ******* **** in every thread.

This thread is pathetic.

I know, but If I made a thread about Golden is God then you ilovelamp and all of the other Golden/Doritos *** guzzlers would be jumping for joy. smh

God forbid someone actually uses PERSPECTIVE and logic instead of just using insults or ranting like an idiot.

There's Emily. Another one of the UM football office shills who just started posting after Corch Al and Duh tripped over their stomachs. There's about 6 of them who just started spree posting after UM **** the bed this year making excuses for our lame corches. They were nowhere to be seen when we were winning.

Quit crying then, and start some happy threads. You and the happy guys in Golden's 500 Club should combat the negativity you loathe with positivity. Drown it out with smiles and hugs, bub.

Look, Golden has his faults and he may ultimately fail here. It's still too early to draw definitive conclusions. But anyone who attempts to discredit what he accomplished at Temple is simply ignorant. If you know anything about the history of Temple football and the circumstances that surround that program, you understand that what Golden accomplished there is nothing short of miraculous.

which is why i'm willing to give him and D'Onof the benefit of the doubt.
With D'Onofrio I think there is some legitimate evidence that indicates that whatever he is doing is just not working. But Golden is still doing a lot of things right. It's up to him now to see the weak link and fix the problem. He needs to hire a competent DC with a different philosophy and let him run the D.

No where in my post did I say I was happy. At the same time, is it necessary for zone and ny and others start multiple threads everyday saying the same exact thing? No. And frankly, it makes the board far less enjoyable.

Jason Whitlock was critical of the Al Golden hire b/c he said that even though his Temple team had the most talent in the Mac Conference he still couldnt get it done to win the conference. The main thing Whitlock criticized was Golden's weakness as a Game day manager as being the main reason he underachieved at Temple. When Miami fans heard the audio, most of us were saying well Temple is Temple that's why they didnt win and Miami has more talent so that wont be an issue.

So the first 2 years Miami fans, including myself, did something unprecedented which was accept that this team wasnt going to be any good for 2 years in a row and allowed the "NCAA cloud" and the "Shannon era" excuses to overshadow what is really going on in this program.

Heading into this season, Al Golden's 3rd year..... knowing things like Miami is going to play the weakest schedule it has ever had, most of the Miami fans in the world had "hope" that this team was "on the Golden road to a title." Not saying winning the big show or even playing in it was the expectation but the expectation was to see a team on the field looking like it's on the way to being elite.

The only 2 games that most of us were saying was acceptable losses was the Florida and FSU game.... virtually all of us said that there is no way Miami should lose to ANY team in the Coastal this year. \

The ACC media had us picked to win the Coastal... the fans believed in Golden and early in the season you could see that being evident b/c there were more fans at the FAU game then it was at any home game during the season last year, besides the FSU game.

That showed that the fan base had hope in this team.... all of that started to change after the UNC game. Miami had 3 home games after that (WF,VT,UVa) and all 3 games the seats were getting more and more empty in the stadiums, which is what happens when the fanbase no longer believes in the coach.

We all said that there was NO EXCUSES for Miami losing to any team in the Coastal this year, but to lose in the embarrassing way that we did to an average VT and Duke team is even more unacceptable.

Now lets comeback full circle w/ the topic of underachieving.... this is now Al Goldens 2nd time where he has been in charge of a program that did not meet expectations.... Temple he didnt get it done w/ the best talent in the MAC, and now in Goldens 3rd year, after all the leeway the Miami fan base has given him, the Coastal was gift wrapped w/ a bow on top and he still failed to get it done.

Now Golden on one side of his mouth, has said a number of times that he doesnt want the standard that was set at Miami to change and he wants to meet those standards while on the other side, cries about "not being back and the team is still building" after losing to Duke smh.....

Miami fans, who have lowered their standards for Al Golden, continue to make excuses as well, so my point is when does Al Golden and his Temple staff finally start being held accountable for underachieving?... when is it no longer the NCAA's fault, Randy Shannon's fault, The players fault for not being good enough, Matthew Thomas's and Alex Collins fault for not going to Miami???

When will it be time for Al Golden to start feeling the heat and pressure of having to meet the standards of a top tier BCS program?... b/c so far all he is doing is collecting 2 million dollar a year pay checks b/c he says the right things in front of a camera, when all he has done is under achieve and make excuses.

And virtually everyone qualified that statement by saying if Duke or Morris goes out with an injury all bets are off. An admission that, because of our depth issues, the margin between a good season and a mediocre one was thin.

Jim Leavitt would have this defense ballin by New Year's Eve if he is brought in after Pitt

Other than DC, I got little to no complaints against Golden

zone is ALOT better poster than this...not sure what brought this up...I stand by Whitlock being a hate monger and wanting all D-1 coaches black and NFL coaches black etc,,,,guy is just a pure hate monger....Why would he care what Golden did at Temple....has golden ****ed up here you betcha....I want a new DC too but when a guy like spence says it players and others in the profession ( NFL ) I have to back up and let the coaches coach...

Even in bad years we had NFL guys falling in the NFL, not anymore, this year most will be on the offensive side of the ball....the D is just a horrible mess of slow Lbs to outmanned D lineman and young corners..in the past we have depth at places to take up the slack,,,spence and Cmac are NFL starters ( spence hence his injury) maybe and I mean maybe Perryman makes an impact in the NFL...buy who else....? In two years we have 5 or 6 guys looking a top 3 round pics...yet no D lineman or LBs on that list yet....

negged....same topic another angle. you have started 1,000,000 threads about this.

Whitlock declared Golden's teams loaded by Mac Standards?

A quick look at the Preseason Mac Polls shows other wise
2006 golden's first year
2007 picked to finish 6th in their division http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/season_preview_2007_mac_media.html
2008 picked to finish 5th in their division http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/season_preview_2008_mac_media.html
2009 picked to finish 2nd in their division http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/season_preview_2009_mac_media.html (finished 2nd in their division, projected first 1st place finisher Buffalo finished 3-5, Ohio University finished 7-1 in conference, co-division champs)
2010 picked to win the division and win the conference. finished 3rd in their division. http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/season_preview_2010_mac_media.html

So 1 time in 4 years Golden was considered to have the best team and didn't deliver. To pretend that his Temple teams were always loaded and always the favorite is complete Joke. To pretend that his Temple teams had sooo much MAC talent they would just steam roll the conference is another Joke.

I understand you have an agenda against the coaching staff. But the **** your posting isn't even creative or informative. It's like you are trying to convince everyone else to share is your disdain for the staff and your longing for the immediate firing of the entire staff. Your flooding the boards everyday with the same non-sense. No one is happy about how the year unfolded after we started 7-0. You don't need to post "new" angles everyday. Seriously get a life.

This. Another convenient fact that people tend to leave out when bashing Golden's last Temple team (2010), is it was decimated by injuries down the stretch. Their best offensive player (Bernard Pierce) did not play in 3 of their 4 losses due to injury.

No the problem is that you and the retards you call cohorts somehow thought it was possible to fix Shannons recruiting woes and lack of any real depth in 2 full offseasons. I don't count that first class because the second Shannon was fired the only kids we had that were worth a **** bailed leaving us with only Chick and a handful of role players and JAGS Golden scraped together last minute. Here is where WTH will come in with his class rankings and how we compared to some of the teams who beat us. Granted he is going with the rankings that still have players that either didn't qualify, went prep and somewhere else or quit team after a year, like AJL, Prince Kent, Bond, Griffen, Grooms, Eddie to name a handful, but hey who is counting right!?! Now someone will say BUT GROZDOZER SHANNON LEFT AL WITH NFL KIDS DURHUR!! Yeah Kids who got invited to a camp and cut or kids who are bouncing in and out of the NFL...but hey NFL AMIRIGHT!?!? Only one who was worth a **** was Mike James and he ain't exactly tearing it up. At all. I love how you just kinda write off the NCAA woes as if it wasn't that big of a deal. Which it ended up not being thanks to a huge gaff on the NCAA end but the first 2 years ALMOST EVERYONE THOUGHT WE WERE GONNA GET HAMMERED AND IF YOU DIDN'T YOU ARE LYING. It LOOKED bad. You don't think negative recruting is a real thing and it didn'y effect UM? Really? I got a beachfront house with your name on it in Dakota for the low then. Holla at me. You think its coincidence that now that the bull**** is behind us we have a Top 3 class? Quit lying to yourself *****boy. By the way using Whitlock as an example is akin to showing us how you got C's in your Special Ed class. Now we all know you're a ******* joke ****** *******. Also the little staement by you saying if YOU coached the team we wouldn't have lost to VT and Duke, You're right. we would have lost to FAU,UF, Savannah State, USF, GT, UNC, Wake, FSU, VT, Duke, UVA and then Pitt. Also we would have no one committed because you're not a coach. You're some ******* sitting behind a computer who most likely works a dead end job because you dropped out of community college. at least judging by your posts.

I think a HC is as good as his coordinators. No D in particular has let Golden down. I think our O would have taken off if Fisch stayed, he called plays with purpose. Golden is good at recruiting and that is his main job. He need to show some ruthlessness in the offseason, either No D adjust the scheme to fit the type of players we have or fire him. Either way change is needed. I don't blindly follow coaches but I don't think Golden is a dud or some savior. He will decide what is his fate in what he does this offseason. The excuses are done.

I bet if Miami wins on Friday 52-3 you would still find a way to **** about them giving up 3 points....

So tell me great zone!!! If you were coach what would you do??? how would you run this team??? hows come your not coaching anywhere if you seem to know it all and have it all figured out??

If I was the coach at Miami, this team wouldnt lose to Duke or VT and definitely not get blown out by them...... that just shows how incompetent and pathetic of a Head Coach Al Golden is. smh terrible

and if u think that Fridays game is going to be 52-3 then you really are guzzling down too much of that Golden juice.

So why aren't you the coach? It's easy to sit here and Monday morning quarterback , call coaches names make fun of them etc...but until you walk a block in their shoes you have no clue what goes on behind those doors

And no I don't think we will win 52-3 but I do think we win
