Jason Whitlock was critical of the Al Golden hire b/c he said that even though his Temple team had the most talent in the Mac Conference he still couldnt get it done to win the conference. The main thing Whitlock criticized was Golden's weakness as a Game day manager as being the main reason he underachieved at Temple. When Miami fans heard the audio, most of us were saying well Temple is Temple that's why they didnt win and Miami has more talent so that wont be an issue.

So the first 2 years Miami fans, including myself, did something unprecedented which was accept that this team wasnt going to be any good for 2 years in a row and allowed the "NCAA cloud" and the "Shannon era" excuses to overshadow what is really going on in this program.

Heading into this season, Al Golden's 3rd year..... knowing things like Miami is going to play the weakest schedule it has ever had, most of the Miami fans in the world had "hope" that this team was "on the Golden road to a title." Not saying winning the big show or even playing in it was the expectation but the expectation was to see a team on the field looking like it's on the way to being elite.

The only 2 games that most of us were saying was acceptable losses was the Florida and FSU game.... virtually all of us said that there is no way Miami should lose to ANY team in the Coastal this year. \

The ACC media had us picked to win the Coastal... the fans believed in Golden and early in the season you could see that being evident b/c there were more fans at the FAU game then it was at any home game during the season last year, besides the FSU game.

That showed that the fan base had hope in this team.... all of that started to change after the UNC game. Miami had 3 home games after that (WF,VT,UVa) and all 3 games the seats were getting more and more empty in the stadiums, which is what happens when the fanbase no longer believes in the coach.

We all said that there was NO EXCUSES for Miami losing to any team in the Coastal this year, but to lose in the embarrassing way that we did to an average VT and Duke team is even more unacceptable.

Now lets comeback full circle w/ the topic of underachieving.... this is now Al Goldens 2nd time where he has been in charge of a program that did not meet expectations.... Temple he didnt get it done w/ the best talent in the MAC, and now in Goldens 3rd year, after all the leeway the Miami fan base has given him, the Coastal was gift wrapped w/ a bow on top and he still failed to get it done.

Now Golden on one side of his mouth, has said a number of times that he doesnt want the standard that was set at Miami to change and he wants to meet those standards while on the other side, cries about "not being back and the team is still building" after losing to Duke smh.....

Miami fans, who have lowered their standards for Al Golden, continue to make excuses as well, so my point is when does Al Golden and his Temple staff finally start being held accountable for underachieving?... when is it no longer the NCAA's fault, Randy Shannon's fault, The players fault for not being good enough, Matthew Thomas's and Alex Collins fault for not going to Miami???

When will it be time for Al Golden to start feeling the heat and pressure of having to meet the standards of a top tier BCS program?... b/c so far all he is doing is collecting 2 million dollar a year pay checks b/c he says the right things in front of a camera, when all he has done is under achieve and make excuses.

One of the longest, worst-written pieces of reading in this website's short but renowned history. And in large part, I think I agree with the premise completely obscured by it, so I should actually be biased toward it.

Zone, seriously, another thread on this? Do you plan on rehashing the obvious for the next 10 months?

I agree with the principle of OP, but I cant stand the whole Temple argument, in EITHER direction. I hate that Witlock says he couldn't win the MAC even when he had the most talent. Really? Is the talent gap from the bottom of the MAC to the top that disparaging that a coach should be expected to win because of it? **** that. Pound for pound Temple wasn't getting a **** load of 4 and 5 star recruits that Ohio was missing out on. The rosters were the same, a bunch of NR players, mostly from in state with a few 2 and 3 star recruits sprinkled in. That being said, I also dont give Golden credit for "doing what he did at Temple", like everyone else does. That program was so ******, that getting to a 9 win season looks like miracle working. It isn't working miracles to only lose 4 games in a season.

Golden need to do some window shopping as well... just like Alabama... GA... FL... Ohio St.. etc get and go after 4 and 5 stars... yes evaluate your talents but weigh your options... stack talent after talent after talent.... as you can see it works...

**** Whitlock that fat racist hack.....he is the sports version of Jessie and Al Sharpton....

I suggest you find another team for a few years....

I bet if Miami wins on Friday 52-3 you would still find a way to ***** about them giving up 3 points....

So tell me great zone!!! If you were coach what would you do??? how would you run this team??? hows come your not coaching anywhere if you seem to know it all and have it all figured out??

First of all even MAC teams were smashing Temple when Golden got there they were so bad.

Also I do agree Temple was the most talented MAC team in Golden's last year or two, but how did they become that?? By Golden recruiting and developing his players. Guess what else other mAC teams had more scholies to give because Temple's APR scores were so bad they lost scholies when golden got there.

They were close to FCS teams in terms of numbers.

Did you think guys like Benard pierce, Jarrett, Terrenace Knighton, and Wilkerson fell off trees?

No they were evaluated and developed and gasp by Coach Donofrio.

Muhammad Wilkerson contributes his development or a lot of it to Coach D.

Coach found him on the basketball court.

Also Whitlock fails to point out that golden beat a BCS team in UCONN at Temple so to me that's as impressive as winning the mAC.

Temple has been so awful, and weren't sending anyone to the Nfl before golden.

Is Golden perfect, No. Am I disappointed we aren't winning the Coastal, yes.

Do I think Golden can win big at Miami, yes.

This class is the best ive seen in 10-11 years.

I'm not zone but for starters, after 3 years I would have figured out that this doesn't work:

Your opinion is completely ******* worthless because you've spent the last 5-6 weeks defending our worthless, one-read quarterback, who is a huge reason why we suck.

i know there is a beating a dead horse emoticon in here some where. This board is tough to read right now.

You all can keep making one excuse after the other but it's a problem when you have the best Talent in the Mac conference and is expected to win the Mac but still cant win for 2 years in a row... pathetic.

The Coastal was gift wrapped this year for Miami to win but Golden failed again.... pathetic.

lol The Golden excuse makers on this site like ilovelamp are the guys that are glad to receive participation trophies for trying. smh pathetic

If I was the coach at Miami, this team wouldnt lose to Duke or VT and definitely not get blown out by them...... that just shows how incompetent and pathetic of a Head Coach Al Golden is. smh terrible

and if u think that Fridays game is going to be 52-3 then you really are guzzling down too much of that Golden juice.
