AJL visiting Marshall this weekend

I half-jokingly told someone this weekend that he would end up at Marshall.

It's disappointing he didn't handle his business this semester.

Dammit man. I'll never understand some of these kids and he seemed to be dying to be a Cane. The minimum requirements are not that difficult.

Our academic standards for athletes are too high. These are football players, not Rhodes Scholars.

What do they need? Straight C's to get in? High school isn't hard at all. All you have to do is try and you'll do just fine.

This.

His prep corch didn't seem all that thrilled with AJL's commitment and mentioned off field issues. Then, he put up some pretty pedestrian numbers in the 4 games he did play. Sounds like the dude went up there and just sat on his dork the whole time. Marshall getting involved is almost always the death knell.

Man I seriously don't understand some of these kids, if playing for Miami is your dream how can you not get the grades?

Even that is stretching it. All you gotta do is show up and do the minimum amount of work.

Ya know, sometimes this seems a reasonable perspective.

But LOL here.

When a kid is heading to Marshall or WVU, the "our requirements are too high" thing doesn't fly. Because, ya know, just about every school's requirements were "too high."

Its not just our school, he can't get into most schools. Hence why he's taking a visit to Marshall and not to FSU, UF, SEC schools, etc..

Serious... does anyone know what are the entrance requirements to get accepted at Marshall? Is it simply "all accepted"????

Sucks for the kid. But my thing is this..Frank Gore got thru UM with no issues academically. When is the last time in 15 years or so we have any kids that had academic suspensions or troubles (that we know of, of course). UM is perfect for those borderline grade kids. They get more personal attention in the classroom and the "family" atmosphere that we proclaim has always helped us. We have one of the best graduation rates for athletes. We can afford to take a few of these ballas IMO

He's going to MARSHALL! Not UF or FSU or even WVU. This situation has nothing to do with UM's academic standards, and everything to do with this kids inability to handle responsibility. If he can't handle it in the classroom at prep school where they flucking hand the grade to you, he probably can't handle his responsibilities to his teamates on the field either. Hopefully the light comes on for the kid, because he is a talent.

Like I said.....him taking his ACT last weekend indicates bad news. Kid is obviously a box of rocks.

Yup. As soon as I heard that I know he had no chance of coming. People kept defending it saying that it was fine and that he had taken it before, blah blah. Point is, taking it that late is an indication that was wasn't on top of his academics.
