Watching the kids highlights definitely leaves me wondering how he slipped through the cracks and how is he rated so lowly? Not a camp guy? Late bloomer? Bad competition level? Combo of all of that?

Doesn't make sense. Production and great size, good motor, moves well for his size. Maybe I just have some orange and green glasses on

I like that we’re going for naturally bigger guys. That’s been a bigger problem with OL, but it also applies to DL.

Almost all of our current DL, especially DT, have had to put on significant weight to reach the lower end of acceptable weight for their position.

He is violent with his hands, two things you can't teach are aggressiveness and motor. He seems to have both. Let him get in the weight room and he'll probably be starting in a couple of years IMO.

I think it's more attributed to the fact that he just doesn't look quite as explosive as the most elite DT prospects coming off the ball. His strength, size, hands and ability to shed blockers all look above-average though so he should probably be a low 4-star at worst. As someone else mentioned, there's definitely something there to work with and he looks like a take all day to my eyes. I'm glad we made the offer, hopefully our lack of depth won't force us to throw him into the fire too quickly.
