ACC MEDIA DAYs 2014 w-UM

I really hope Al doesn't B.S. his answers and answer truthfully. I hoping to see a different side of him now the the rain is gone

Much the opposite. I expect him to live up to every single fan's most closely guarded hope, the ones they don't even know about. I think he'll answer every question with complete honesty, including whether or not he should have fired his DC, why Miami doesn't have an on campus stadium, attendance and the Penn State opportunity. I think he will have the first press conference in sports history like that, and will set a new standard for "winning the presser". He'll admit that the staff has lost faith in Judas Olsen, and that Duke should go pro after this year.

And after each answer he will drink an entire bottle of pre-made Muscle Milk.

**** DUKE PLAYERS ARE TALKING ABOUT WANTING TO PLAY FOR A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!! HOLY ****!!

AN THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT DUKE LINEBACKER KELBY BROWN IS OPENLY SAYING THEY CAN PLAY WITH ANYONE IN THE COUNTRY!!!

We need to get this thing in miami corrected. Duke is taking about they have the speed to play with anyone! F'ing Duke talking about being fast enough to play with Miami as if it is nothing!

Open message to AL Golden : Get this ship righted NOW!

GO CANES
Well they only play 3 games: US, VT, and UNC. So, get ready to hear way to much about how David Cutcliffe is turning a basketball school into a football school because they are going 10-3 or better this year, 9-4 is a worst case scenario.

Gotta love that ESPNU showed all of the SEC Media Days and replayed them non-stop and we get to stream our media days. No bias though

Yeah, Wake, Duke, Virginia, GT, VT, BC, Syracuse, NCST, and UNC really move the ratings needle. Think of the dozens of viewers ESPN is missing out on. Dozens!

Yeah, because people outside the thriving metropolis' of the $EC are really tuning in for their media day coverage. Sure, people will watch an actual $EC game that is falsely hyped and forced down their throats but don't pretend like anyone with indoor plumbing actually cares what Hugh Freeze has to say.

@mattyports: Denzel Perryman said the defense is definitely going to be better this year "because everyone knows the playbook in and out."

We can only hope this **** is true

I was under the assumption that the playbook was 3 plays hastily drawn upon a napkin

I never said that people from areas that traditionally care little about college football were all tuning in to watch. That point is totally irrelevant to the relative level of interest the SEC, err, $EC and the ACC garner. The SEC, err, $EC media days will have exponentially, exponentially, exponentially more coverage from non-ESPN outlets than the ACC media days. Besides FSU, err, F$U, there is not a single team or story compelling enough to transcend individual allegiances. I mean, what are you even trying to articulate?

It doesn't matter. The entire states of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Missouri, most of Kentucky, half of South Carolina, half of Florida, and part of Texas will tune in. SEC fans will watch their coaches take a dump. I live right in the middle of SEC country, which is also right in the middle of ACC country. SEC/ACC coverage is 90/10.

What am I trying to articulate? That if ESPN wasn't continually trying to prop up the $EC and did one day of coverage (I mean do we really need more?) of each of the Power 5 conferences' media days that the ratings would be fairly similar. I guess you're just buying the narrative that those $EC fanbases are just sooooo superior in numbers and dedication. I don't.

In comparison to ACC fansbases, for the most part, they are. FSU and Clemson are the only ACC fanbases that come close to "SEC fanbases" and even they pale in comparison to the SEC school in their state. Ok, maybe Clemson/USC is closer, but UF's fan support in Florida blows FSU out of the water in Florida.

I'm not even arguing ACC/$EC although by a NATIONAL ratings perspective the pull of talking about the (effing) reigning champs would bridge that gap. I'm just sick of all the assumptions we're supposed to believe about the mighty $EC when their actual fanbases aren't larger or more "dedicated" than your average Big Ten clown from those behemoth institutions that routinely fill their giant stadiums too.

Like 1985 is saying, SEC fans are absolutely bat**** insane. They don't care about professional sports and base a large part of who they are as human beings on their team. From top to bottom (from Kentucky to Tennessee to Miss State all the way up to Bama) they blow every other conference out of the water, including the Big 10. Plus, ESPN didn't make them by far the most successful conference, winning 7/8 national titles did that. If I ran ESPN you bet your *** I would be doing the same thing in regards to CFB coverage.

@mattyports: Denzel said he needs to get off blocks better and not get lost in coverage. Wasn't disappointed in 3rd rd draft grade bc of that.

@mattyports: Me: Michael Wyche, you've worked out with him --
Denzel: "He works out with me."
#fairenough

@mattyports: Denzel admits it: "I'm 5-11 on a good day." Said being a sub-6-foot LB doesn't bother him bc "I'm still able to go out there and ball."

@mattyports: Denzel on Jake Heaps: "He's good under pressure. I try to talk a lot of trash to him to try & get into his head & it blows right past him,."

@mattyports: "First time I tried to talk trash to him, he threw a touchdown. He came and shook my hand and said, 'Keep it up.'"

I hate the SEC as much as anyone, and more so now, living where I do, but realities are realities. Some of the Big 10 schools have the #s the SEC schools do, but those fans don't eat, sleep and breathe football like SEC fans do. I lived in Chicago for 4 years, which is right in the heart of Big 10 country. OSU is the only Big 10 school's fanbase I'd compare to the SEC when it comes to crazy/passion, and it's still not the same.
