A note on Ryan Mack

It was not wind aided. He ran 10.86 legal wind of 1.7 and 10.91, running against a negative wind of -2.5 which converts to 10.72 with no wind at all. And that was in 2022 as a SO. My guess is he probably a 10.6, 10.5 runner by now just by the law of progression and growth
You should check that link I had up in that thread. He ran anywhere between 11.1 and 11.6 for the 23 track season.

Yeah yeah u right. I didnt see the '23 results. Not sure what accounts for the regression. Maybe injury, maybe lack of track training. I ran track so it could be a multitude of things.

Could be, could also be that he gained weight? It was surprising to see the times get worse, I’m no track savant but I figured the times between one’s 10th and 11th grade would get better.

Yeah especially in a growing teenager. Injury if i could guess because he was really thin so filling out his frame would likely have been muscle and proportional. I will keep an eye on his track times if he does next season. Not sure Aquinas allows early graduation

Ryan Mack may not be the high-upside, impact CB that’s been lacking on the roster. But history suggests he has a pretty solid floor.

There’s been a wave the past few years of second-generation football players who played DB at Broward private schools and grew up around each other. Almost a dozen recent P5 recruits fit this profile. And while the upside varied, there wasn’t really a bust in the group:

Patrick Surtain, Jr- First rounder for Alabama, best corner in the league
Asante Samuel, Jr- Second rounder for FSU, one of the best young corners in the league
Quincy Wilson- Second rounder for UF
Marco Wilson- Fourth rounder for UF
Davonte Brown- Starter for UCF, Miami transfer
Tyson Russell- Starter for Vandy
Isaiah Taylor- Starter for Arizona
Earl Little- Projected starter for Alabama
Jaden Davis- Starter for Oklahoma, Miami transfer
Daryl Porter- Starter for WVU, Miami transfer
Al Blades- Starter for Miami before he got sick

Given his polish, pedigree, verified 5’11 height and 10.8 speed, I think we can project Mack as a solid depth piece who raises the floor and will help recruiting impact talents.
respectfully, Mack, per your statement, is a "solid depth piece" none of the above players are just "solid depth pieces".

Zaquan Patterson and Isaiah Thomas at S
King Mack + Some at CB
Dylan Day at Nickel/Rover

Ryan…Not King Mack

I'd agree with that. Maybe even go up to 6 if one of those DB is named Elias Robinson, Mincey, or Hayward (looking unlikely) or maybe even the juco kid Laulea

I'd say rest of board looks like (not sure if all commitable, especially with the locals). This assumes that Patterson is the 4th commit

1-2 more of
E.R. CB
Mincey CB/S
Heyward CB/S
Laulea CB
Morgan CB/S
Knight CB
Howard CB
Frederique CB

Not very kids gonna be a 5*, kid comes from a good program, has legit speed and room to grow. Need guys like this for depth and special teams and to possibly start down the road if they progress or are needed.

Yeah sorry, I glitched for a second.

Doesn’t have the upside but he’s already a polished player playing for a local/national power in STA. He’s playing top competition week in and week out. With that said he’s definitely a good addition to this class!

This a real community. These kids all grew up playing together and the dads were the coaches.

The combination of genetics and polish seems to be helping them with the transition to the next level.
DP Jr and Pat Surtain Jr are real close last time i saw DP Jr he was with Pat2. These kids still work out together, chill, etc push themselves...its kind of why im higher on DP Jr than most on here.

I just want to land top tier blue chip recruits
So d money don’t have to make these posts trying to explain and/or justify the take
Don’t have to be 5 stars but at least someone like brown or stafford last year
There was no post trying to justify why we took them
maybe last year spoiled me
