A name I’m told will be visiting Miami after the dead period

No he’s not, he didn’t see him as a take and overruled other staff members that offered and scheduled the visit.
This is the problem. D Nich knows what he wants and Dennis Smith shoots it down. Now, it works like that in the NFL with GMs I think (?) but those GMs better be good at identifying talent. I don’t trust our “GM’s” LB evals one iota over our LB coach.

So Smith leaked to Ferman to torpedo this recruitment of a LB by the LB position coach?

If Smith gets to be the decider of who the next staff can and can’t recruit on defense I’m concerned about their ability mold their roster as well….

SOOOOOOO..... Mario has a guy "pulling a bartender"?

- Not letting the Rumphs of the staff make their own evals and decisions?

hmmmmm -- sounds like something a rookie, unfit for head coaching, coach would do...

How can that be under SUUUPPPPPERRRR MARIO?

I just don't understand how a HC who's pretty much been given a blank check to fix the entire football program can still have all these blind spots. When even the most casual of fans can identify glaring problems then what's Mario doing? I though he was supposed to have learned a ton from Saban. No way would Saban let his recruiting department go rogue.

Heard from Dennis Smith and had a good convo and he was apologetic. Obviously their department is fractured a bit and the staff isn’t on the same page in areas. Took the tweet down but hopefully this stuff doesn’t happen again.
Apologies are great and all but this isn’t a one off. The man is hurting relationships everywhere. He can’t keep getting away with this bs. We need to get rid of him. We need change or it’s not going to get better

Totally understand either route, but we’ve heard way too many things now that can all be tied back to a select few individuals. At some point, they need to feel heat, and it seems like this did the trick if DSmith already got back to apfenny.

Unfortunately, I bet an email would have either not been read, or just simply discarded. This, while a bad look in the short term, should at least be a wake-up call for more uniformity in evaluations and decision-making.

I give Mario a ton of blame, but I know one thing - he’ll be livid at this whole ordeal, and will let the people responsible hear about it.

After all, how you do anything is how you do everything, right?
Mario should be livid. It's a bad reflection on the entire program. May it shine a light on the other stuff people have referenced here.

Let this stick for the people who say that Smith doesn’t have authority in those decisions. This is the SECOND person who deals directly with prospects to say this. But ya’ll continue to think otherwise.
Been trying to tell ppl he has a lot more power than people realize. He is absolutely spiraling and it’s getting worse. It worries me it’s such a red flag that Mario is allowing this to continue.
