A Few Things

I won't lose any sleep if Stacey Coley isn't signed to this year's class. The WR talent next year will more than make up for it. Plus, it's not like AJL and Cunningham are chopped liver.

I'm hopeful about Sherit and VHIII, but it's a **** shame about Coley. Watching him abuse Tracy Howard in drill footage from last season made me want to see the kid in orange and green. He could have been our Sammy Watkins.

Also, I havent heard much on the Kearse front lately. Is it safe to assume the staff has cooled on him? I think I would. He appears to be a bit of a diva, the type of kid who'll commit 4 or 5 times during the process. Great athlete no doubt, but this staff does not appear to be into "playing the game".

Yea that's pretty much the case. He still likes Miami, but the coaches aren't gonna waste time on a kid who has already decomitted twice and is messing around a lot

Good stance to take IMO. If the kid seems interested at the end of January I would talk to him again, but right now it seems he's just enjoying the game.

Still, you are talking about maybe the best player in the state. We already let that level prospect get away with Watkins, I would hate to see Coley leave too without a fight.

But as has been pointed out, this isn't a simple offer/commit situation.

Peter, I don't know you, but you seem like a sharp enough kid. Most on this site know that I am not one to flame or pick fights.

Having said that, if you think that Al would not only pass on Stacy Coley, but pass on him in favor of Cunningham and Whitfield, then you need to pick a new career field.

Kermit Whitfield is not going to Miami, not because you can't get him, but because your coaches likely don't want him.

I tried stating this as clearly as I could, but it has nothing to do with Coley's talent level. He is the most talented receiver in Florida, maybe even the entire country. But what I'm trying to say is this. What happens if they take a commitment from Coley now and them find out he can't qualify close to signing day? At that point, Cunningham has probably looked and committed elsewhere and Miami doesn't end up with either of them.

But would it really be that bad if Cunningham committed elsewhere? With a ton of potentially great young WRs already onboard (Dorsett, Scott, 2012 kids, likely AJL), i'm thinking we can and should be really choosy with who we take at WR, especially with limited schollies and critical needs at OL, RB, and S. Is Cunningham a Matthew THomas-VHIII type of talent that you absolutely have to make room for? Or is he just another good prospect at WR whose skillset you can find in another kid in 2014?

I definitely don't think he's a Thomas type of talent and feel like you said just another WR.

With all the talent in 2014 I would say take a chance on Coley and if it does not work at least we have AJL. However I think we end up with Cunningham and not going after Coley

I'm not saying this is my opinion. I'm telling you what the coaches are actually doing

If I have a shot at a 12-point at only 200 meters, and a shot at a 14 pointer buck at 600 meters with a five mph crosswind, I'm not wasting time on the 14 pointer.

I shoot, I have committed, and I'll take the 12-point and be damned happy with it.

The problem is is that taking the 12 pointer comes at an opportunity cost. If this was a 33 man class, no probs taking Cunningham. But now, every schollie is precious in this small class and we have much bigger needs elsewhere. WR could be a position where it's just "take the cream of the crop and if they don't come, let's use the schollie at OL or S or RB".

Maybe to the coaches they feel as if one of their wide receiver target(cuuningham, Kermit,etc...) is already "the cream of the crop" to them.

Its a shame Kermit's playing games since he's the perfect complement to the kids we signed this last class. Hopefully they can lock him down and maybe keep an option out if Coley can get it together.

Is everyone forgetting that Cunningham has over 40 offers and is being recruited by all the top schools. Lets not make it seem like Cunningham is a plan B kid. He may not be as "electrifying" as Coley, but the kid is still a top echelon player.

He is not "just another receiver," he is an elite level talent who is a smart, humble kid. Not your typical "me, me, me" type of kid. Have faith in true staff they have yet to let us down.

Kermit is not playing games. He's still very much in the picture

Yep. The kid rushed to a decision but he isn't playing games. He wants to go through the process and rather than doing it while still committed and possibly losing his spot, he did the right thing for everyone. Can't blame him. Still hope he ends u a Cane.

I would gladly welcome him in this class. kid has elite speed.
