-There has been speculation that Jordan Sherit lost contact with Miami at some point in the process, which is not completely true. Sherit has had a strong relationship with coach Golden for a while. There was a point where things kind of fell off a little bit, but the staff has picked it up even more with him as of late. Sherit is a great prospect in his own right, and I think this also has to do the fact that landing him would be a huge piece of the equation for the Vernon Hargreaves III sweepstakes. With close friend Travis Johnson already in the fold, landing Sherit would up the ante for VH3 even more. I've heard more and more positive things on this front lately. USF remains a threat as the hometown team, and UF has always been up there, but Miami is in it more than ever now.

-Stacy Coley is one of the weirdest cases we've seen in a while. The coaches love his game, as they should, and he likes Miami, but the more and more I like into the situation, the less I see him coming to Miami. There are just so many other factors that go into the evaluation of a player other than on-field attributes that the staff has to consider safer options. What I mean by this is that scholarships are very tight this year, especially at receiver. So instead of using a scholarship on somebody like Coley, who may have qualification issues, they may be better suited to make sure they get a kid like Jordan Cunningham to pair with Angelo Jean-Louis and then continue to recruit Kermit Whitfield as a slot guy.

Do u think the renewed interest in Sherit is due to us falling behind in the Matthew Thomas sweepstakes? Last I heard is, we are now third behind Bama and FSU.

No. Different positions..

Anyways I'm confident Thomas is going to be a Cane. Matt always has a different leader.

Peter, I don't know you, but you seem like a sharp enough kid. Most on this site know that I am not one to flame or pick fights.

Having said that, if you think that Al would not only pass on Stacy Coley, but pass on him in favor of Cunningham and Whitfield, then you need to pick a new career field.

Kermit Whitfield is not going to Miami, not because you can't get him, but because your coaches likely don't want him.

I tried stating this as clearly as I could, but it has nothing to do with Coley's talent level. He is the most talented receiver in Florida, maybe even the entire country. But what I'm trying to say is this. What happens if they take a commitment from Coley now and them find out he can't qualify close to signing day? At that point, Cunningham has probably looked and committed elsewhere and Miami doesn't end up with either of them.

And there is a very high chance he isn't able to qualify.

****, his grades are that bad? Do these kids even show up to class, I mean if you just go to school and turn in your assignments for the most part you'll get at least a B.

The thing with Coley is, even if he can't qualify, you're not wasting a scholarship on him. I can understand if you think it's a waste of time because he'll end up elsewhere after possibly prepping, or if you don't wanna scare anyone else off if he were to commit. But we don't really lose anything if he doesn't get in.

Cunningham is all Miami, unless Al tells him no.

I knew what you were trying to say. Coley definitely has a lot of work to do, but his situation is not as dire as you make it seem. Even if it was, you take the chance and sign-and-place him if he doesn't get in. If lesser targets are butt hurt about it, oh well. Coley's talent level is so high, it justifies taking that risk.

I hear ya on your point about Coley Peter, but he's a special talent, much like Hargreaves, and I think if you can get him on board, you take the commit, and figure it out later. Cunningham does not appear to be that special type of player, so if he goes somewhere else, so be it. I'm hearing more and more he likes Stanford anyway. I get what youre saying about Coley's classroom issues, but he's the kind of talent you have to find room for if he wants in.

Love what I'm hearing about Sherit. What kind of player is he in your eyes, and do you think we'd be recruiting him as hard if VH3 wasnt in the equation?

Keep bringing what you are to the table man, love the info.

Also, I havent heard much on the Kearse front lately. Is it safe to assume the staff has cooled on him? I think I would. He appears to be a bit of a diva, the type of kid who'll commit 4 or 5 times during the process. Great athlete no doubt, but this staff does not appear to be into "playing the game".

With such a big WR group last year why not go for broke and put all your money on Coley?

Again I know its 2013 but it seems like there are a number of 2014 WR's that are very interested in Miami and from the write ups many of them seems to be very very good.

With the numbers we brought in this year, and these kids available in 2014, I feel like you take a shot a Coley. I remember hearing the same thing during Aldarious Johnson's recruitment and he was able to get his grades in order.

I mean Coley after reading all the write-ups it seems Coley is that elite talent that can come in and make a difference.

Trust me, if you knew me and Peter's source on this you wouldn't question it.

Again, we like Coley and he's not off the board. But despite rumors to the contrary, I did not get the sense he will be in this class for a variety of reasons.

Hey D$ and Happy 4th. You know I trust you guy's info, so I'll ask one simple question; if Coley cleans it up in the classroom, will he be in this class?

It's definitely possible. But speaking to someone with direct involvement, he was not overly optimistic at this time.

I think people who have followed Coleys recruitment (tried I should say) know exactly what you meant and its definitely an interesting point.
