A Few Guys Arguing Non-Stop [F/K/A "Let’s check on Lane Kiffen"]

The problem is that it’s a short term fix. See Michigan State.

FSU will be a prime case study in this as well. You can’t win with 20th ranked HS recruiting classes. FSU fans will tell you that you can if you have an elite coach and you supplement those ****** classes with high end portal talent, and a lot of it.

If that’s true, they’ll win the ACC in 2023 and be in the playoffs. Color me skeptical.

And everyone knows that year 1 improvement is the only thing that matters. Who cares if you lose 4 out of 5 to end year 3.

Yes.

If you win more games in year 1 than the previous coach did in his last year, you’re a great coach.

If you lose more games in year 1 than the previous coach did in his last year, you’re trash.

Them’s the rules.

It sounds like he would be a great OC.

Lane Kiffin as a P5 Head Coach:

58-33 (.637 winning percentage, Mario is .678 even with the stinker this year, by the way)

Lane Kiffin as a P5 coordinator:

2005 USC — Lost in the national championship game
2006 USC — 11-2 record, won the Rose Bowl
2014 Alabama — 12-2 record, lost 42-35 in the semifinals
2015 Alabama — National Champions
2016 Alabama — 14-0 in games he coached, Bama lost the national championship with Steve Sarkisian calling plays.

Hmm. Almost like he’s a really, really good offensive football coach who can win compete for championships when someone else recruits players for him. Interesting.

Yeah they went from 4-8 to 5-5.

The parade was epic.
so one lost 2 more games than the year before and one of them won 1 more game than the year before.

Yea nothing to see here.

Everyone wants mario to succeed. His recruiting speaks for itself. His coaching on the other hand is sub-par.

Mario Cristobal in year 1 at Oregon went 9-4.

The previous season, they were 7-6.

2 game improvement in year 1. Was he sub-par then? Or does 35-12 in 4 years at Oregon including multiple conference championships and bowl wins, including a Rose Bowl, not count and he’s sub-par because of 1 year at Miami?

This is a bit misleading. They signed a smaller class.

Their player average would be somewhere in the Top 20.

Lame Sniffen gonna fill the roster out every year with JUCO and transfers, which Mississippi is prime recruiting ground for. Riley has a similar approach.

If there's an area to pick at, for their class, it's the lack of DT's, which again, Mississippi should never be hurting for.

Have you ever gone and read oregon fans thoughts on mario? Why are they currently happier with their new coach than mario?

Yes oregon won with no competition from usc or ucla.

Mario is 67-67 as a head coach. Show me a elite head coach thats .500 for his career.
