It was an improvement from 4-8 the year before.

Ok? I mean we’re kinda splitting hairs here aren’t we?

I think Lane is a fine football coach. He has absolutely zero shot to win anything of significance with the way he recruits. None.

This is what a lot of people fail to realize here. What are the possibilities? What are the unknowns? Where are the ceilings?

Because here are facts. I know….I KNOW, as an irrefutable fact, that Lane Kiffin cannot win a championship at Ole Miss with 40th ranked recruiting classes. He can have good teams because he’s a good coach. He can have success. He can maybe flirt with run at a conference, if he weren’t in the SEC West. But he cannot win championships. Because it’s been proven, as fact, that you need to recruit at a certain level in order to do so.

So I KNOW he has no chance. It’s fact. For the people who hate Mario, none of you KNOW he is a ****** coach. There’s evidence he is. I certainly don’t know he can win. Maybe he can’t. But what I do know, as fact, sitting here in December 2022, is he’s recruiting at the level it takes to win championships. One part of the equation is being taken care of. Yes, the other part is a big one too. But that’s still yet to be written. Again, it may very well be proven out over the next few years that he can’t win even with elite talent. But wouldn’t you want the guy who at least has a chance?

It’s like Norvell long-term. Norvell has no shot. He has no ceiling. The best he can do is have a really good team in the ACC. He can’t win a championship. Because, literally, NO ONE ever who has recruited at his level has been able to do it. Or even come close.

So we might sit here in 3 years and say Mario is a failure. I can’t predict the future. But for now, in Year 1, give me the guy who at least has a chance over the guys who have proven they have none.

I agree. I’m also of the opinion that nobody is going to win a championship at Ole Miss and that Lane has probably maxed out their potential.

Much like Mario needs actual football coaches to do the heavy lifting during the season, Lane needs a staff full of recruiters to do the off season work he clearly doesn’t care for.

I’d be curious to see how he fares at a school that’s trying to contend and not just content being good.

Yeah, I wonder how he would do at a legit program like, say, USC.

How do you think Alabama, Georgia, OSU etc have separated themselves from the pack? By winning in February and December.

It's about the Jimmy's and Joe's, not the X's and O's in College.

You defend a coach that won 5 games. with a **** schedule and the ****** coach before him won 7 in the year he was fired.

Make it make sense.
Yes, I am defending a guy who won 12 games in a P5 conference and who is a dominant recruiter. Absolutely. The fact that you’re hung up on year one with a terrible roster shows you have an agenda. You would rather have the guy whose season tanked in year 3.
