Much like Mario needs actual football coaches to do the heavy lifting during the season, Lane needs a staff full of recruiters to do the off season work he clearly doesn’t care for.

I’d be curious to see how he fares at a school that’s trying to contend and not just content being good.

Disagree on this. Hugh Freeze showed Ole Miss what they could be. He was their ceiling. Lane won’t croot. Hugh croots and he is good coach.

Ehhh, in fairness that “chit schedule” actually wound up being a bit tougher than it was perceived to be.

The 7 losses we deserved by **** poor play, went a combined 57-29 on the season (.662).

What I found interesting is that Ole Miss only beat 2 opponents w/ a winning record: G5 Troy & UK (7-5). The other 6 wins were against teams sub .500. Miami, only beat one team w/ a winning record, which was G5 So. Miss. But to Ole Miss credit, they took care of the one common opponent which was TAMU, while we **** the bed against them.

Ole Miss 6-0 against sub. 500 teams, 2-4 against +.500 teams

Miami 4-1 against sub .500 teams, 1-6 against +.500 teams

I know you think you made some kind of sick burn, but most people want to flip the roster with a strong combo of high school players and add portal guys where needed. So you’re wrong.

All ive heard was flip the roster, flip the roster, well get guys in the portal etc.

We barely will have a two deep for spring on defense unless we get portal guys buddy.

Do you read anything that you respond to? I literally just wrote that we will have to get guys in the portal. What we WON'T have to do is rebuild the roster every single year through the portal since we are recruiting lights out on the high school front.

I get that you need to argue about everything, but slow down and read it first.

We’re not defending 5-7. That shtty coach that went 7-5 was about 4 points total from the same or worse record.

Manny would never win the natty because he didn’t recruit at a top 10 level. The same goes for Kiffen, coaching does not beat talent for national titles. It helps when the rosters are even or close to even. Cincy was a well coached team but didn’t even belong on the same field with Bama last year.

Mario is going to recruit at a top 5 level year in and year out. OSU Bama and Georgia have recruited consistently in the top 5. That’s why they are in or around the CFP every year, not some every once in a while crap like Cincy or TCU this year.

Oh i dont disagree with you about talent. Mario isnt as good of a coach as the top 5 coaches. Thats why who he hires is so important.

I responded to exactly what you said and asked what was i wrong about.

Is Mel Tucker not a corch?.

You brought them into it as to show that FLIPPING the roster from the portal WONT work and is a short term fix. So i addressed that. Nothing would work at Michigan State because their coach sucks.

I dont know where the every single year thing you added onto came from but....

I get that you get lumped up on the board alot but you need to slow down on the posting.

We should ALWAYS be a Portal Destination though...im gonna disagree with you on that we should hang around that 5-10 kids a year mode from here on out to go with our hs guys. Its a perfect setup for a 1 year grad transfer honestly. Its why Manny always did well there.

Flipping the roster like that doesn't work because you don't build depth. It's not college basketball where you only need five new guys each year. If it worked, we would see the playoff teams doing it. Instead, they are killing it with high school recruiting and filling needs through the portal.

Oh, and when you point to a strategy and claim that Manny Diaz did it well, it's time to get a new topic to preach about.

Then why point out that Mario isn't a top 5 coach while defending Lane? If being a top 5 coach is important, say it about both.

And Lane isn't way ahead of Mario. Lane isn't even way ahead of Sam Pittman.

You can build depth like that actually because on the ability to transfer without sitting out a year for some guys have 2-3 years. But it wouldnt be our M.O. We should be lookign for 1 year guys for the most part.

I was just pointing to the guys (not you) who towards the end of the szn were sayign get rId of this one...Mario is sending that 1 to the portal...i was mainly saying it wasnt that easy. Now we have like 3 scholly safeties on the roster 1 who just had surgery.

Manny Diaz played the portal well honestly. He got numerous starters and turned portal guys to nfl draft picks..if you cant admit that i dont know what to tell you. He wasnt all that at recruiting his actual position adn evaluating that though.

In regards to "playoff teams" well most guys are in the portal to showcase themselves or get more reps...well those for the most part arent going to be readily available....unless they are tampering. Which even Bama has done.

We should be a PORTAL DESTINATION....Its ****** Miami. We should be a portal destination for elite kids in the portal..I already stated the amount of those as well...Not looking for 20+ kids EVERY SINGLE YEAR...for 5-10 Kids every year...YES.
