Let's put that number into perspective.
$100,000 equates to:
25 boosters agreeing to pay $4,000 lump sum, or spread over four years - $1,000 per year. That's less than $100 per month.
See how simple it is coming up with that much? Of course, the arrangement would be some up front, some along the way, and some at the end.
Twenty five boosters. $100 per month. And you get a freak player worth close to 10 points per game - by either making two clutch catches per game that sustains a scoring drive - or making two clutch catches that keeps the opponents off the field and from scoring - or actually scoring 10 points per game by one TD catch and also sustaining a drive that gets a field goal.
That's how it's done by the bag men - and they'll have their clubs and associations - and will pool their resources - so that no one even feels it. They'll **** away a hundred a month in a bar - that's their logic.
Or flip it - 4 boosters agreeing to pay $25,000. Spread over 4 years - that's still only $6,250 per year - or $521/month.
That's how you just MEET opponent offers. The arithmetic will vary depending on the agreement - but there's a lot of folks who can afford that much.
So you end up having maybe five of these groups per year - and you're soon STACKED with absolute, top-tier talent.
Those few that can afford more - can provide a smaller group - and those who cannot afford much - will have larger groups.
That's the game. You play. Or you watch.
