I see this a lot on message boards. No one gets “graded” until they declare and go through the whole NFL Draft process (Combine, Medicals, Pro Days, Team Interviews, background checks, etc etc).

Shaun Wade was projected to be a first rounder by some lazy NFL writer who read Phil Steele and maybe watched a couple Bowl Games.

Case in point from April 23, 2023:

This 2024 mock draft in USA Today had Zion Nelson going to the Eagles.

Nelson of course at that point had been hurt in September 2022 and hadn’t resumed football activities.

I’m not arguing wit you bro after that run they had wade was going 1st round until he came back and got cooked. He went crazy his Jr year in the slot when he moved to boundary in 2020 he got cooked and fell to day 3

I wasn’t trying to direct that post at you it’s just something that always bothers me when some lazy NFL writer projects someone a first rounder and then that is used to validate the player.

Like Kaaya was projected to be a top 5 pick when anyone who watched him could see he was slow at processing, a statue in pocket, and average awareness at best
