Haselwood transferred there... Pate on Late Kick show has been drinking Arkansas Kool-Aid and is convinced they'll have a great season. May push for conference champion who knows...
I always enjoyed the random clip here and there I got from the Late Kick show. Or his interviews on other shows. He's an encyclopedia of knowledge and really personable.

But I've actually started listening to his podcast over the last month and holy sh*t is this guy insufferable at times. He's been on his soapbox the last few weeks about how sh*tty the college game has become specifically with the Playoff era. I listened to his podcast from yesterday about Saban's comments and glorifying the dude as if he's trying to save college football.

Saban isn't some patron saint that's doing things "the right way." His players have been getting paid since day one, their boosters have been pumping hundreds of millions of dollars into that program for the last few decades, and Saban engineered the "when you coach here you better sacrifice everything for our success." Saban and Pate talk about how "unsustainable" NIL and the portal is. But they fail to acknowledge that the things Saban and Bama have been doing has forced every other program to follow suit or get left behind.

Luckily for us, we're finally starting to play the game. But holy sh*t is Pate one of the smartest idiots I've ever listened.

What are the rules for multiple transfers in the portal in a calendar year? Isn't the limit one xfer and anything more than that requires you to sit a year? Unsure if Jennings would be eligible next year.
I think he has to sit out a year since he's used his 1-time transfer. He could ask for a waiver, but I don't know under what grounds he be claiming said waiver. One would be a parent illness, but that would have to be proven.

We had a battle them for Garcia also. I initially couldn't understand how that was possible and didn't take them seriously but given the offensive system they run and if they're pouring money into the program, they should not be ignored and are serious competition (at least for offensive players)

- I mentioned it in the Baxter thread. We are going ALL IN on him which why the all of a sudden OSU commit for Fletcher
- we're getting Rashada!! Arkansas just got 2 crystal balls for another 4* QB, Malachi Singleton
- as long as we get Jalen Brown and Hykeem Williams at WR, IDGAF who else we get relating to our recruitment of Joseph
- would love to add the UCLA LB and the WVU DL

Sounds like only a few schools can/will actually pay what will be needed to get them year in and year out.

I love the commitment from the big money donors we currently have. It sounds like they're willing to spend more than most others are right now. I just hope they will continue to increase that spending level as costs increase so that it continues to be an advantage. Cause its gonna get ridiculously expensive eventually.
It can go both ways. Only a handful of players will get crazy money. Maybe all 5-star QBs initially. However, what happens when those 5-stars don't pan out to what they're projected to be? DJ U at Clemson for example. I think teams will re4ally have to do their homework on who fits their program. Will their be a big drop off from the 4-star kid that's just outside the 5-star ranking.

Again, look at DJ U. He got the early Dr Pepper and Bo Jangles NIL deal. What is his projection now. If he was a 2022 or 2023 recruit you'd say he's a 5-star bust. Now, Look at TVD. A highly rated 4-star who's progressing and projecting towards being a 1st round NFL draft pick. Two guys on opposite trajectories that would have completely different NIL money coming out of high school if they were in the 2022 or 2023 class.

So, I could see the money getting crazy for a few guys. I also think things will calm down when some 5-stars don't deliver and other less rated guys do.

As fans, ESPN and all the other rating services have us locked into this winning the recruiting awards. Sure, it has been proven a correlation of highly rated talent and national championships. There's also a correlation that most of the NFL draft picks were not 5-star rated talent coming out of high school. I don't think there's even one former 5-star QB in the 2022 NFL draft.

NFL 2022 QB First Round Draft Projections
6. Kenny Pickett 2017 - 3-star: #33 QB
8. Malik Willis 2017 - 3-star: #21 ATH
20. Desmond Ridder 2017 - 3-star: #116 ATH
32. Matt Corral 2018 - 4-star: #4 QB

To be fair Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields were a 5-star from the 2018 class who both were drafted #1 and #2 last year. Other 2018 5-star JT Daniels now in his 2nd transfer from UGA to WVU. From 2017 Tua Tagovailoa was a 5-star drafted in the 1st round. Davis Mills, another 5-star QBs in the 2017 class went in the 3rd round.

So, in conclusion, it's a mixed bag. Most of the 5-star QBs pan out, but some don't. A lot more 3 and 4-star QBs develop into top players. I think moving forward, NIL deals will closely resemble NFL free agency. It will be about getting value for your money. There will be some schools (boosters) that will pay a crazy amount of money because that's their only way to get a top prospect.

Fields was not drafted #2 last year… He dropped to the bears. Zac Wilson and Trey lance went before him.

They have great coaching on the offensive side of the ball.

Passing on Fletcher from AH is a hard pill to swallow
I need to go watch some RB film. I wanted Fletcher so bad!! Can't believe we passed on him! I trust coach but **** you're right hopefully we circle back around an he's not ****ed. 6'2 220-230 with 4.5-4.6 speed big back that Mario loves like I said gotta watch some film these others ahead of him must be some ballers!

Baxter 6’1 215 with monster speed. If Fletcher is 4.6, Baxter is 4.3. Reality is Fletcher is 4.7 type ri guy. Look at his film, he is physical and shifty but never runs away from HS players. He is a stud but not a game breaker. Still would have loved to him though.

Big difference between them and a real consensus 5 star
The uga transfer would set the tone
A 5 star who left Georgia because he wasnt going to play, A guy who hardly played last year and is an unknown...Gotcha

Yeah…. No. Was a true freshman that played on a loaded line last year and was gonna get playing time on a loaded line this year. If you wanna knock him for not sticking it out at UGA, that is fair but he was thus far 100% living up to his billing.

I agree that’s why it’s not a disappointment
But even looking at Lincoln over at usc he has locked down some top tier studs
We got a lot of blue chips
But still no perception changing recruit

Bro; again…Our class was 15th; USC was 65th. lol.

SC did secure a couple of big fish since Riley:
-Jackson
-Brown (committed to Riley at OU)
-Branch
-Williams

But, that’s far in between the bleed job SC had on NSD. Class of ‘23 is where SC will be doing its damage, just like I’m sure we’ll be doing our damage in ‘23. We had a way more successful NSD w/ a new coach than SC. It’s extremely hard for a new coach, no matter who they are, to come in after a chit show & recruit at a high level in a transition yr w/ mere weeks to go to rebuild burned bridges w/ schools, players, parents.

Just for context:

Saban’s transition class at LSU (21st)
Saban’s transition class at Bama (12th)
Meyer’s transition class at UF (12th)
Dabo’s transition class at Clemson (36th)
Harbaugh’s transition class at Michigan (37th)
Riley’s transition class at SC (65th)

Unless u’re a Smart, who’s coming into a program where it’s been pretty stable both on & off the field for a decade + under a legendary coach, or Meyer following in the footsteps of a great coach leading a legendary program at OSU, very rare will u see a new coach, despite reputation, knock it out the park in a couple of weeks at a program that’s been a chit show for yrs. What Mario did in 2 months is nothing short of amazing.

Yes, we lost Stewart & a couple of other big name fish at the end, but at the same time, none of those names were even in play til Mario & co. came on campus.

I find it hard to believe they told fletcher to not commit(sounds like spin) young was always going to be a uphill battle. Hard pass on the Jennings kid.

AYE THIS HAKEEM WILLIAMS ***** SEEM LIKE HE A F.U.CK. ***** I SAW A INTERVIEW THIS PU.S.SY A.S.S ***** JUST DID...............

Glad our QB room has García and Brown. If boosters aren’t ready to commit 7 figures to an unproven high school player, and I don’t blame them, I guess we’ll be going after high 4 star guys who won’t command that type of money
