Mario is going to have to get a higher hit rate on his signees. That’s for sure

But I do see guys with tools. Like the Washington brothers, Kaleb Spencer, etc. I see what they see. But I haven’t seen the ability to get anything out of players that don’t come in ready to play day 1. That’s a huge concern so far
It’s stupid that they push kids out after two years in the program. Develop the kids in your system. It will take some guys time to be good enough to play but they will make the starters better. Then you will have grown men who waited their turn hungry AF like Michigan had, while continuing to add young guys with high end talent that play early

How much of it is pushing kids out or kids not having the patience to wait?

They don't play half the guys they just keep portal over guys because they want proven mfs, then they transfer because they never see the field.

Yep. You're going to have to eat it for a season or two while investing time into the younger guys. Honestly UF did a good job of that this year and as the year went on development happened. Watching the games last weekend it was surprising how many of the guys from their 23' and 24' classes were playing already

Yea for real why go crazy signing so many high school guys if you're gonna keep using the portal over them their first 2 or 3 seasons. I feel like you're right have to work these guys in the rotation and trust your evals. Guys at WR, DE, LB are positions our young guys need reps this year

Feel like once you start depending on the the portal it's hard to stop. You'll always be playing catch up for the next season. Gotta play your young guys and then sprinkle in a couple good portal additions. Once recruits see you don't keep them you're recruiting pitch becomes watered down. On top of that your roster has no sense of a culture.

Developed gets overused way too much, sometimes it’s just a straight up missed eval. What if sometimes you can’t be developed to what the HC wants, you just don’t have the tools that’s why a lot of guys go portal to make the money now. If you ain’t seeing the field early it’s high probable jag outcome that’s how these stories usually go.

Moten? and Zay Horton? Idk, he's had two real classes, let's see how he can develop these guys going forward. I'd especially like to see some development of his OL guys.

Those are probably the only 2 I can point to. Obviously credit them for Cooper.

Don't want to take away from what we've seen from OJ, Lofton, Riley Williams, Aguirre, Pruitt, etc. I think those are the next wave along with McConathy, Day, Trader, Carr, etc. I'd like to see Markeith take another step as well and that would be another.

Definitely trying to be patient because the first real class was 2023 and its hard to rely on Sophomores. But when they're juniors... if they're not playing at a high level I'm going to be very concerned.

Exactly. Being developed is basically technique scheme, and some intangibles( footwork, breaks, blocking). But if your body does not possess the actual ability to do multiple things at once, it just doesn't have it. There are kids with high motors that overcompensate for this...and we are notorious for finding them.

Facts

The only thing they could be blamed for (all staffs around cfb) is evaluating. When they put a recruit around others in the practice setting they know either they made a mistake or they found something they knew about all along. That development sh gets thrown around way too much. Is anyone hiring the Incarnate Word HC for “developing” Cam? How have his qbs been since?
