2025 Senior Bowl

It would be cool to get a player drafted in every round.
1 - Ward
2 - Arroyo
3 - Restrepo
4-5 - Martinez, Mauigoa, Rivers
6-7 - 3 of Baron, Barrow, Borregales, George,
Brown, Carpenter, Porter, Powell
It could happen.

Zero chance Powell, carpenter get drafted. Who is brown? Porter outside chance - he has to run well to get drafted. Kiko put some really bad film last year and probably won’t test well. He may not get drafted.

Reading all these positive reviews of our players skill level, and not just their athletic ability directly contradicts a CIS maxim which is that
UM DOES NOT DEVELOP PLAYERS.

I have read some version of that argument for years, and yet Rivers, Restrepo, and Arroyo were all developed at UM, and someone taught them how to run routes so well, and someone taught Rivers how to play multiple Oline positions. And those someone’s are coaches on the staff at UM.
You can validly argue that Brown, Martinez and Ward were mostly developed somewhere else, but I would retort that all improved their potential draft positioning after playing at UM and under this staff.

Good job Mario and staff. We need to acknowledge successes at least as loudly as failures.

Why is arroyo wearing a helmet with a different logo on half the helmet?
I think it’s wash St- maybe a cam thing? Noticed restrepo has an S on one side of his helmet. Not sure what’s up. I don’t see other guys doing that??

I’ll wait until the NFL combine to make my assessment on which Cane will be drafted where. The only sure thing is Ward is going Top 5.

NFL GMs don’t make business decisions based upon practice reports. History, in game production, character, measurable are what determines that.
I would argue the biggest mistake GM’s make is they put far too much weight on combine testing, and not enough on practice reports and game production. Indeed, I read that the Patriots under Belichik sent less reps to the combine than any other team as he did not feel it was a good way to predict future results.

I’m not arguing that anyone should be drafted based solely on senior bowl production or practice reports, but I do believe it should have more value than the combine.

My counter to that would be Ben Simmons & Melo Ball. Both look/looked like HOFers in practice. My other counter argument would be The Greentree practice reports.

I agree w/ u that the combine often distorts the draft decisions of GMs (see Anthony Richardson), but by far & large most decisions are based upon game production. The combine simply either verify or give GMs a quick assessment to revisit game film to see if a player’s potential is A+, undervalued, or overvalued.

Production will always be king, but of course a GM is going to take a chance on a guy who’s running a 4.2-.3, 40 in vert., benching 225 20+ times, &/or can launch a ball 70+ yards with decent production. They do same thing when it comes to recruiting at the collegiate level, & what determines at blue chip from a 3* or lower.

I like the post season practices more than college practices only because the opposing athlete is also trying to be a pro, whereas we have to assume that the vast majority of the college teammates won’t play in the NFL and just can’t offer enough competition for comparison purposes by NFL GM”s.

But beyond that I agree with all your well argued points. One request. In that I am a Sixers fan, please never mention Simmons name to me. It’s painful every time I think about the Sixers selecting him #1 overall :confusion:.

Ahh yes the Sixers taking Simmons over Jaylen Brown in 2016 then taking Fultz over Jayson Tatum in 2017 is brutal. Lakers fans in the same boat because they had the 2nd pick both of those years and passed on those two as well.
