2025 NFL Combine

Kurt Benkert speaks on Cam - starts around the 3 min mark. Really interesting points about why Tennessee should take Cam Ward.
He also talks about Shadeur.

He talks about "opportunity costs" of taking a QB in the top 10 picks

He talks about both sides of the ball having to do their jobs. He speaks from experience about knowing his defense likely wouldn;t get a stop and they would lose so he played hero ball sometimes, took too much on himself. He says he felt that because Miami's defense was so bad, Cam sometimes took that cape on too. He makes the point that in the NFL, that's not the QBs job.

Really interesting analysis. HE's very high on Cam's arm ability, accuracy, etc.

"If you keep Will Levis as your QB, you're going to lose your job"

@Memnon

Benkert at the end says "...he's the first one in a long while that I legit can say should be compared to Pat Mahomes"

Havent watched the clip but wanted to second the opportunity costs of punting on QB. If you have a shot at one when you need one, you have to take it, cause you dont know whens the next time you will have another shot at a good one. Its not only the most important postion in sports, but its the toughest to play in the NFL. Titans should take a QB with their pick, I think it should be Cam, but if they like Shaduer better, whatever, take a QB. Look what a Jayden Daniels can do for a franchise.

For the Titans, drafting any other position than a QB is essentially guaranteeing that the GM & HC will be fired.

It's basically saying, we don't wanna work here anymore, please get us out of here.

In today's NFL, if you don't have a QB you don't have a shot.

It used to be you could build from the inside out by starting with OL, DL & then get everyone else, but now everything starts with the QB; you build around the QB & work your way back to every other spot.

Exactly what Benkert said too.

AND the division is dog ****. Very winnable. Look how quick Houston took over that division with a capable QB and good picks. Plus the Titans are boring af. No one wants to watch them in town. The home crowds are mostly visiting fans coming to honky tonk and take over for the weekend. They invested $2.2 billion in a new stadium and took half from the tax payers to do it. The least they can do is give them a face of the franchise

Ngl they have been building up the OL but as far as weapons that is not an ideal situation for a young qb.

Benkert’s argument is a QB like Ward makes it easier to attract young talent and free agent guys. Bring him in and build around him
