2018 LB Xavier Peters

Tired of saying next year then people talk about not having depth non stop during the season. We need 2 LBs maybe 3 at this rate.

This above anything else. I we don’t test the water for a LB then we’ve conceded to changing the defense. We have 9 LBs including Joyner, we need another.

Need OL, DT, DE, CB, and safety more than LBs right now. There's only 7 to 8 more spots this year.

Either way it's not that big a deal if we get another LB or not this cycle. Doesn't even look like he's got an offer right now.

Besides 55 and 56 I have yet to see another LB on the roster do much... just saying

Need another LB "BAD"

Quality over quantity . The U lacks quality LB's.

Easily our worst position group right now. Not even close.

aside from our starters we have mike smith, charles perry, jennings, and wilder coming back with experience.
steed will hopefully be fully healthy. we added joyner. i think we have depth.

I like Steed, Jennings, and Wilder, but I'm concerned by the fact that Wilder and Jennings didn't challenge any of the backups for PT bc it's not exactly like the guys after Shaq and Pinc are world beaters. They were decent, but I didnt see any playmakers right there.

I just checked on Peters with a UM source.

At this time, he is not a realistic target for the staff. They've had contact, but there is still no plan to take another linebacker in this class.

Not counting anything out because I've heard he was seeking out Miami commits at the UA game abut the Canes so there is interest from his side. But I wouldn't call him the "Jeff Thomas of this class" right now.

One LB is silly. Can't be convinced otherwise

Not even as a potential DE? He can absolutely grow into one...

I do not understand the personnel priorities of this staff, specifically on the front 7. Easily my biggest complaint about Richt thus far.

Exaclty. I don't get how you look at the team you inherited and depth, then recruit the front 7 the way we have. Not to mention watching the teams in the playoff and playing the likes of Clemson

Well, I guess it's obvious that they are really happy with how they think Wilder, Steed, and Jennings will develop. And I'm starting to wonder if Shaq just wants to be a four year player and has told them as much. That UGA LB corp was really good this season, and that's a group that Richt brought in, so he knows what to look for in the position.

yea I don't get it. I mean we are what? 7 guys on the front 7 and replacing them with 3 guys? 5 if we get Briggs and Chatfield. Only thing I can think of is that they are looking ahead to the 2019 LB class, but I'm in mindset of counting your chickens and not your eggs.

Then we wonder why we sit here with no depth on the dl. I guess we can have 3-4 Fr in the rotation there.

Then when 2-3 the lb leave next year we'll be f'd there too. I said this last year about Dt, " what if the dt's go pro ?" I was told there was no chance that could happen, I imagine the same guys will say the same thing about the lb's too.

We gone have the same problems at the LB position that we have at DT right now...the front 7 on defense recruiting wise has been pathetic. Quit taking 1 at a position idk what these dudes thinking.

Nor should you understand it, because it is nonsensical and shocking for someone with Richt's level of experience. I would have thought he knew how to recruit a balanced roster by now, and yet we are hearing about another WR getting on board soon. You can't explain this.

I just posted that , it'll be the next abortion.

I mean it's very realistic 55-56 go pro and Mccloud could come out of nowhere with a big year. Stranger things have happened. That would be all three.

Like I've said to nauseam" you don't recruit on intending guys staying all four years.

These kids want to get that second contract faster now since the new cba, the old cba motivated you to stay. Now with the rookie scale you might as well jump and start the clock on the big contract. That's their thinking , even though it's not smart most times. You leave trying to get to second contract but if you aren't getting to the second contract it won't matter.

Count me as one of the guys who thought RJ would be gone, but thought there was only a slim chance Norton would be foolish enough to leave early. But I learned my lesson. Time for the staff to learn theirs.

Overall, they're bringing in the right quality of recruits, it's just about where they're allocating the numbers that's leaving me scratching my head at times (specifically on the defensive side of the ball).

Its based on numbers. Regardless how you feel about a player on the roster every coach has a certain number of guys for each position. There will be 9 scholarship LBs on the roster next year.

It's like we're saving roster spots even though we played more than 10 players below the limit this year lol.
