2018 LB Palaie Gaoteote receives offer

He's had 105 total tackles in the first 2 years of his career at USC.

His best game was last year where he had 14tcks vs Utah.

He only played in 2 games this season before he got injured with a concussion.

Plays both Mike & Weak Side LB, but is definitely a Mike, has good diagnosis ability & does a good job scraping into the gap & getting to the ball carrier, is a bit of a reckless hitter, tends to just throw his entire body at the runner rather than identifying his target, but that can be coached up. Has good speed & fluid change of direction, he's not stiff at all & he can Blitz really well, which means Diaz would salivate to use him in that role in this Defense.

Given the fact he's a Vegas Gorman kid I would 100% kick the tires on this one & see if he's interested in coming down here. Have Bolden, Brevin & Phillips talk to him & see what he's looking to do, I think could similar impact at LB that Phillips had for us coming in at DE. Let him get healthy & let Feeley get him in the S&C program & this kid could be a beast LB in this Defense (as long as he's healthy).

IMO he's a Portal take.

@Rellyrell i can tell you right now that the reason he looks stiff is because he’s 250. He needs to be at around 240. Don’t know what USC was doing with him SC wise but he needed to tone, shred fat and add muscle, not gain muscle by adding weight. He’s def not out of shape but that’s why he seems stiff.

If T2 doesn't come, let's bring this kid and call it a wrap on LB's. Still wondering if he should be a DE, but let's just get him here and figure that part out later.

I would be more than happy w him here. He can revamp his career like Phillips did, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, get us a pipeline to the usos.

He told Shodell that both Bubba & Brevin told him that Miami are really interested in him & that he'll definitely consider Miami & that he feels he's a good scheme fit with us & he mentioned the success we've had with transfers like Phillips, Roche & Bubba.

Miami's staff hasn't formally reached out to him yet, but basically we will soon.

My guess is we had Bubba & Brevin reach out first to test the water to see how interested he'll be & once they got feedback from B&B then the staff will put the full court press on.

IMO, I think we're getting him, when exactly I have no idea, but I wouldn't be surprised one bit if we landed this kid after ENSD.

Would he count forward or still IC after ESD?

Big dude with solid bend around the corner.. wonder if he/we would consider being a DE? More like the 'Viper' position that they used a few years ago...

I don't like him at MLB. He's a liability in anything that's not between the hash
