2018 LB Palaie Gaoteote receives offer

I agree with LCE here, he doesn't look like a stiff JAG in the Jennings/McCloud mold. Just from the highlights they seem to drop him down to rush end on 3rd downs sometimes which would be nice to do here at Miami.

Also, for whatever reason, those 5-star Cali kids who stay at USC or UCLA seem to underachieve. Take a chance on an athlete here

When you remember Brevin brought us Tate, but Tate brought us Jaelan
I like our slugging pct when Brevin is involved 😂

He played with Brevin & Bubba in HS & played with Buba at USC too.

The familiarity is there & just like how Jaelan Phillips was the #1 ranked player in the 2017 class, Palaie was the #1 ranked LB in the 2018 class.

I think the staff should really consider making an effort to get him here.

That Gorman team was loaded in 17- him and bubba used to be all over the field on defense. IMO Palaie was the best player on that 17 and 18 team. When Bubba/Tate transferred in I cracked a joke to one of my players about him coming to Miami (they grew up in the same village) he said he wasn’t going anywhere... Well would you look at this 😅

I wouldn't read into that. He loves it here and will recruit other Gorman kids here but that doesn't mean he's passing up NFL money if he thinks it's there for him.
Yea I feel you . That was really just speculation . Idk if he’s ready for the league just yet , he’s really gonna have to bulk up to play like he does . I honestly think that’s why his tackling dropped off for that stretch of games , it seemed like he was protecting himself or was already hurt .

For years I have hoped we could establish a Samoan-Polynesian connection with our recruiting. Those guys are tough as nails and play the game with violence and reckless abandon. He is a take in my book just for the opportunity to establish the pipeline.
The issue has always been distance, most of the Samoan/Tongan Polynesian kids tend to stay closer to home with the West Coast schools, but Hawaii, Utah & Cali have some very gifted Polynesian players every class that are NFL caliber.

Hawaii is producing QB's really well too & with UCF having success recruiting QB's from there it should show them that Hawaii kids can come to FL & thrive.

Environmentally, FL (particularly Miami) is probably much more like their hometown roots than they realize.
