Miami Offers 2018 LB Gaoteote

Miami has entered the race to land one of the nation's top 2018 linebackers.

Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman four-star linebacker Palaie Gaoteote told 247Sports on Thursday that he had picked up an offer from the Hurricanes.

Gaoteote, who is pegged as the nation's No. 10 overall prospect for the next recruiting cycle, exploded onto the national recruiting scene two weeks ago when he stared for Bishop Gorman in a nationally televised game against Texas powerhouse Cedar Hill.

The U.S. Army All-American also claims offers from Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, Michigan, UCLA, Washington and Wisconsin. He is ranked by 247Sports as the nation's top outside linebacker prospect and the top 2018 recruit in Nevada.

The way we are playing defense now is bound to attract kids like this. Our three true freshmen will be our best recruiters. If they shine all year and get the press, 2018 kids will line up to take there place. This guy has good size. Anyone know his speed?
 
If we're going out of state, we might as well target the best - and Scout has him as the #1 OLB in next year's class.

This kid is a monster, just ask Cedar Hill. Best LB in next years class and I don't think it's particularly close.
 
This kid is a monster and is playing in another huge game this weekend vs Kahuku High School from Hawaii.
Time to get on the horn to Mr. Dwayne Johnson and have him give this young man a call!!! Every Polynesian boy wants to be the Rock!!!

They Play STA on the 30th . Hopefully its on TV because it should be a good one

Will probably go to Ohio State, they got a little pipeline going over there, i watched this kid live in dallas, he is a stud, Ohio State is getting his QB, WR, DT from that BG team
 
We're his 20th offer so we're somewhat late to the game here. Hope I have reason to learn how to pronounce his name.

As expected 5-star Bishop Gorman LB commits to USC

He's had 105 total tackles in the first 2 years of his career at USC.

His best game was last year where he had 14tcks vs Utah.

He only played in 2 games this season before he got injured with a concussion.

Plays both Mike & Weak Side LB, but is definitely a Mike, has good diagnosis ability & does a good job scraping into the gap & getting to the ball carrier, is a bit of a reckless hitter, tends to just throw his entire body at the runner rather than identifying his target, but that can be coached up. Has good speed & fluid change of direction, he's not stiff at all & he can Blitz really well, which means Diaz would salivate to use him in that role in this Defense.

Given the fact he's a Vegas Gorman kid I would 100% kick the tires on this one & see if he's interested in coming down here. Have Bolden, Brevin & Phillips talk to him & see what he's looking to do, I think could similar impact at LB that Phillips had for us coming in at DE. Let him get healthy & let Feeley get him in the S&C program & this kid could be a beast LB in this Defense (as long as he's healthy).

IMO he's a Portal take.
