2018 4* DE Nik Bonitto - St. Thomas Aquinas

I think the staff learned their lesson here. At the time he wasn't a traditional scheme fit as an undersized 2-pt stance edge player. This year they recruited Hammett (since dropped), Thomas Davis and moved McCloud to DE.

Samuel Jr also wasn't a traditional scheme fit as a zone corner for a press-man scheme. Then ironically Baker shows up and the defense trends zone anyway and Samuel would've been our best corner the last 2 years.

Recruit good players; figure out the rest later. That seems to be an MO with the '21 class with guys like Brantley, Rodriguez, Davis, Johnson, Curtis.

Miami would be much better off if they contracted recruiting evals out to CIS.
Sometimes it certainly feels this way. Especially with recruits from SFLA. I cant remember one time the staff took a kid, who some of legends on here werent sure about, and it panned out.

You cant get everyone but we cant keep being out-evaluated by school a thousand miles away

Missing him definitely hurts as he was a local kid, but our failures the past 3 years haven't been because of pass rush production

Yes and no. You can still pass rush, but you also have to see the play happening in front of you and adjust accordingly rather than just continuing to go up field. Our guys haven't been smart or seeing things too clearly in that department which has hurt us more than it's helped is IMHO.

Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn so many ppl wanted this dude to be offered too smh
half baked bullshit GIF
Most people wanted him. Proves again us message board folk know more then the staff getting paid millions.

LOL hahaha. Look at you hoes crying over nothing. We have two first round picks at edge and ur crying about PFF when the half of you say that site is garbage.

The dude had a good year. great for him. However like someone said, edge rush is not our problem. You people should get off the interwebz and stop looking for things to cry like hoes about

This. I get that you have a certain scheme and are looking for certain types. However, at some point (especially with real young kids), you have to escape this rigidity and have an open mind for true position. Recruit the football players first and find a spot for them second. The latter is what makes you elite imo

It's true man....it's just so stupid to me that we know more then guys hired to know more. It's super mind boggling to me
The longer you're a football fan the more this reality sinks in...fans know a lot more than one would expect, and coaches/management are not infallible. Not even close.

Aren't you a Giants fan? There must've been tons of times where you knew better than the "guys hired to know more". It's just the way it is.

ex. I've been saying for 2 years the Bucs need to play way more press 2-man and it takes until the 3rd drive of the playoff semis for Bowles to finally do it. And whaddya know the Saints offense gets completely dismantled.

^ now take that example and multiply it by 100s over the past decade or so with the Bucs and Canes. Now that's mind-boggling and incredibly frustrating.

(I just realized I've completely rationalized your moping and now I can't undo it)

The problem here was how big he could actually get. He wasn’t coming here to be a LB but a Viper like Roche. Turns out he would’ve been a great viper but if you’re judging him as a LB then no, he wouldn’t be anywhere near the same player. One of the few times where me, gogeta, Dmoney, LCE, and Roffers all agreed on a player.

Is it moping when he's been right all these years?

the problem is folks who just can't see things clearly?
No moping is not caring about a player until 4 years later after they have 1 good year and then digging up and thread to start crying like a whinny bish. Kind of definition of mope. No one gave a fuq about ole boy until they could use it to bash our team.
U say see things clearly but I bet this thread gets more replies now that the PFF grade came out than when he when to OU.
Only thing clearly seen is the same people crying likes hoes over and over.

That's your take. Some folks find it interesting to discuss this stuff, and even to look back and see what we can learn.

Others, apparently you included, get hot under the collar when the discussion makes you uncomfortable.
