2017 DB's

Zbrod, why only 3? Just at corner, once Corn leaves, we are down to Redwine and Malik Young, if he pans out. So we need 3 just at corner.
Mike Jackson is still there and he's serviceable imo and I say three as in 3 freshmen...I think he brings in a JUCO this class so he doesn't have to play all the freshmen early and waste their eligibility. Plus in my mind, it isn't smart to take 4 or 5 borderline 4 star guys when you have a very high likelihood in 2018 to grab 4 of the 8 top CB's in the nation next year. It could be 4 freshmen in 2017 when everything is done depending on how the CB's play during the season

I think chances always best with local guys. So Brini and Davis would be the best chances with Marco a possibility. Darnay a definite take, but what are the chances he come east to play? A CB haul of Henderson, Davis and Brini would be a top CB class.

Darnay Holmes Talks UCLA Spring Game and Why He Moved His Commitment Date Back - Miami - Scout

Here's the vid I'm talking about, decide for yourself...again he has a scheduled OV here. Brad Stewart is a possibility as well Gator Hatar. I think we have a shot if someone is willing to visit and he got interested after watching our 30 for 30 series

There is always a chance, but my point as stated the chances always better with locals. Never said Darnay wasn't interested, but what would you say the chances he comes all the way to the Bottom (ol school name for Miami), passing up the Cali schools? That's all. Must Admit I am more confident with new staff recruiting.

Good point. Now you bring the need for the next list. Who are the (8) 2018 CB's? Won't ask who are the 4 likely to sign since a good season can drastically change things for 2017 and definitely 2 good season can have a positive effect on 2018 class.

I don't get why this staff is slow-playing Nick Roberts.

Other than Holmes, I'd take him over any of those guys. He's a physical, lockdown corner who plays with a chip on his shoulder. IMO, like Shaq, he would start here from Day 1

I think you need to watch Brad Stewart's highlights
Savage❌season - Brad Stewart Jr. highlights - Hudl

No offense to Nick, I love Him as a player but Brad's better ILCane2011

I expect anywhere from 3-4 corners and 2-3 safeties for 2017. I want the staff to be careful in who they take this year at DB as 2018 is hands down the best group state wide I've seen in a long time.(Some good ones are going to get away, too many to contain)

Exactly, 2018 is too talented to bite on need in 2017....get enough to play then load up in 2018

Not including Asante Samuel Jr. is a crime. Every event I've been to, he sticks out like a sore thumb at corner. Don't let his size fool you, he's been the best one at most of these settings regardless of class.

AH best DB prospect is Tyson Campbell, I do like Surtain but I've been firm in the fact that I feel Campbell has a better skill set.

Jobe & Frierson can play corner yes, but Jobe will tell you himself he would rather play safety and hit people and roam the field. The play with a lot of range. Same for Frierson. You maximize their ability at safety, corner if the team needs it. (Aka, Columbus moved Jobe down to corner when Brooks sat the rest of the year)

Remember this name. DJ Ivey, South Dade. I came across him when he came with Frierson for junior day in February. I expect an offer to come at some point. He is the real deal. Doesn't hurt that he's close with Frierson & Jobe, he spent a lot of time with Frierson & Blades at the spring game. A lot of local coaches have told me lately that he's making his name known among his peers. I was told he was shutdown at a recent event(Warzone) in the area. Tall, Fast, Long Limbs. The ideal corner.

I will also say. Shawn Davis is Dades Best corner for his class. I've been sold on him since last spring when I saw him take on every top WR at the SoFLo Shootout. It's still a long way to go with him with the recruiting process, I'll leave it at that.

I love Brini & Henderson upside. Brini a little bit raw still, Henderson has learned quick in some short spurts of playing corner at events, locking on top wideouts.

Marco, I need him to prove himself this year. I love his athleticism and he's a key piece to AH track team but he was only a sittuational player as a sophomore. He has grown quite a bit over the past year while recovering. This year will speak a lot, lot of his hype came off of SFE and viral videos. Time will tell.

COMPLETELY AGREE....

I like Davis, Henderson, Nick Roberts.....

Marco has to earn it through summer....One of Marco or an out of state athlete type and call it a class....

Z, differences aside, I've got some questions for you.

How many of these kids have you seen live?

Since coaches can't comment publicly on who they're recruiting, what's your source in who has legitimate commitable offers on the table? Websites, actual recruits, or do you claim an insider in the program?

By the way, your take on Davis is interesting to say the least. Why isn't he what people make him out to be? I'm nowhere near as enamored with Jeudy as a lot of people are, but not many shut him down if that's what did in fact happen.

100% agree. Shawn Davis takes WR's out of games. Completely. I don't think any other CB in Dade can do that. There's a reason SEC schools want him.

Oh trust me 1-4 are very, very close I could put any of them in any spot on that list and be ok with it. I didn't know about Asante Samuel Jr. in the camps though. I think Jobe and Frierson will be the safeties but let's say we get Tyreke Johnson or another talented Safety?? One of them moves right?? I wouldn't kick any of them out of the class... My cousins boyfriend usually works medical aid for South Dade via MDFR has told me about DJ Ivey

I've seen the AH kids live(my cousin goes to heritage) and from time to time I catch other games like SouthRidge and BTW with other firefighter friends of mine because I'm a football junkie. Obviously the OOS kids I haven't seen unless they played Warner Robbins HS in south GA(my grandparents lived there for years). I'm not an insider at all, never claimed to be and look at my updates they're all from sites(I even put what's sites they're from) I share info that's all I do. I only talk about players I know have interest in the program through videos and articles I read...I work for a private ambulance company and Fire rescue departments handle 95% of the calls down here(and get paid A LOT more hence why you'll see me ask other firefighters on this site about their department and if they're hiring) that's my job, not a being an insider ...I do interfacility transports all day long I have all the time in the world to read and summarize articles when coming back to South Florida or any hospital I go to. As far as offers go and who's commitable one of my sites actually updates us on new offers but no one knows who's commitable, not even so called "insiders" but there's certain prospects you know are probably backup plans, I've been following recruiting for years.

My take on Davis is I think he's talented and I agree with Geo that he's the best Corner in Dade, but I don't agree with how much he's hyped on the site. I don't see this Ball Hawk, All American or whatever you wanna call him....I just see a future starter and that he's well coached. Let me say this about Jeudy, I've seen a lot of him...My little brother against him in pop warner, he's inconsistent, has dropped a lot of balls he should've caught, and he disappears at times but when he's on, he is on and anyone who's seen him play will back that up.

Asante Samuel Jr. is the best corner in coverage in all of SFL, regardless of class. I know that the staff is focusing on length at corner, but this guy is too good. 7 of the cornerbacks taken in the first 100 picks of this years NFL draft were 5'10 or shorter.

I'll take Ivey at corner over Jobe and Frierson. I've seen Jobe play corner, and his position at the next level is definitely safety, IMO. Isn't that quick to react to the WR and break out of his backpedal. Will have to be hid in a heavy cover-3 scheme, if he plays corner.

Leave Jobe and Frierson at safety. They give us size, range, and violence.

My top corners:

Tyson Campbell
Asante Samuel Jr.
Patrick Surtain Jr.
DJ Ivey (reminds me a bit of carlos becker, who just won the long jump in the state title)
Al Blades Jr
